Say you have a CD of compiled interviews, I'm selling it for $47. I was thinking of having about 8 or 10 tracks, 8-10 people being interviewed). What do you think would be expected? I don't think I should do less than 8.

I've put together a few projects like this in previous jobs I've had. It is less important how many tracks (interviews) you have on a CD than how good the interviews are. Good quality trumps volume of content every time.

Excellent point. I am going to put on 8 or 10. I'm assuming that will be satisfying for customers.

I think you missed the point MS was trying to make. It is quality over quantity. First of all think about your audience. Are they going to sit through a 70 min CD? With 10 interviews that is only 7 minutes a piece, not too long. For example this interview of Tim Ferriss (http://www.vimeo.com/1218168) takes 30 minutes, and is well worth it.
If you look around, an old poster here Jet Set Life is selling memberships for $57 a month for only 2 interviews.
Even at 10 minutes (7 interviews a CD) it is hard to get your topic across. The flip side here is that printing an extra CD really does not add any incremental costs. Narrow your focus and concentrate on quality and substance. (and watch the interview I linked to :).
