View Full Version : Muse in testing... how's our copy?

Hey all!

This is one of 3 muse projects I have coming online into the testing phase. I have been resisting my natural urge to overproduce and overdesign everything, concentrating only on what matters.

The main store page (target for google ads) is http://store.crystalprogramming.com and it has a companion blog / search engine trap at http://www.crystalprogramming.com .

I am not very familiar with "hard sell" copy, so please let us know how we did, especially on the "store" page.

Thanks!

Hi there.

I'm very familiar with the target market you're trying to reach and have a couple thoughts for your consideration...

1. Make who you are more important.
People who buy crystals believe that the energy that gets programmed in must be good. I think there needs to be more about you to establish trust.

2. Drop the cartoon icons.
I'm guessing that those are just placeholders for your test, but thought I'd mention it just in case. Cartoons are not a fit for new age products, inho.

Have you tried testing for interest yet?

wildsoul,

I completely agree with everything you said.

In addition, I would change the headline "What Do You Want To Change?"

Personally, I think that is too vague and I don't understand what you mean by that.

You go into more detail after the headline, but "What Do You Want To Change?" is probably not going to be enough to grab someone right away.

For example:

Even starting with this paragraph (from your site) instead would probably have a greater impact:

"Carry the Energy You Need With You!
There simply isn't time to consult with everyone who might need a little extra edge in their day so I found an alternative. I can focus the the specific type of energy you need into a crystal that you can keep with you any time you want.

I 'power up' each crystal one at a time, personally insuring that you get exactly the energy you need to get that extra boost. Think of it as a metaphysical “battery” to draw on in your daily life.

You CAN have it all!"

Thanks for the feedback!

We are currently testing our interest via adwords. Our Click through rate isn't bad, but we need to do a better job converting to sales I think. Of course it's been less than 12 hours, so it's hard to say :)

We will definitely be making the changes to the copy that were suggested. I can see your points for sure. I am going to work up another set of icons, and test them in an alternate landing site. Something with a different vibe. Testing is what it's all about!

While I have access to someone familiar with the market, can you make suggestions on keywords? So far we have...

crystal energy
crystal healing
crystal power
crystal therapy
crystals
healing crystals
natural healing
new age healing
spiritual energy
spiritual healing

With the plain keyword "crystals" far and away the big impression leader though we have a pathetic .037% CTR on it. "Crystal healing" is a much better CTR at 2.47% (though that still sucks) but it's only 121 impressions. Clearly, I have not found the sweet spot yet :)

Thanks for all your suggestions!

Ken

Use a keyword suggestion tool, I like this one:

http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/

And not related to copy, but as I have been suggesting elsewhere, it would really help to have a professional-looking logo/header on the top of the site, it would give a great deal of visual credibility :)

Good Luck!
