FTP uploads

I had a fairly large file to upload to lulu.com and 2 more are waiting. Their normal upload process was predicting 10 hours to upload it. They recommend using an FTP for large files so I downloaded both Filezilla and Smart FTP but couldn't login to ftpupload.lulu.com with either one and I'm not even sure I know how to use them even if I had. Has anyone had experience with this before?

Never used Lulu, but I would recommend using Fire FTP which is a totally free plugin for the Firefox browser (If you are not already using Firefox or another non IE browser, then you are fighting with one hand behind your back. Make the switch).
