I guess the title says it all. I'm looking for someone who understands the purpose of the website, i.e., to monitor traffic for market interest, particularly conversion rates. In the course of building your muses, has anyone come across a particularly noteworthy web designer to refer me to?
I've looked on elance, but there are so many possibilities, I'd like some guidance from other like-minded folks.
Thanks!

a web designer who knows "monitor traffic for market interest, particularly conversion rates" ??? That would be more of a web developer or web master job. The designers job is mostly just visual.
For designers, I've had some success with design contests. For like $100 - $200 you get a bunch of designers to compete. Examples here:

I haven't had success with freelance designers, so, I'd be interested in anyone else's experiences.

I am using these guys in Canada and they are very good and handle everything from design, programming, server management, PPC management, etc. and they are Google Adwords Professionals:

Thanks, Gentlemen
I'm glad I asked before I looked for a designer to do a developer's job.
Shortcutter: I looked for pricing information for DocuMedia, but didn't see it. How much would you expect to pay these guys for a Tim Ferriss-style muse-testing website?
Thanks for the great suggestions so far.

I haven't used these guys personally, but I'm about to because I'm quite impressed by their portfolio. Check out http://www.elementfusion.com
They'll probably be a little more expensive, but they do some really great work. :)

sometimes designers are worth a little more to get more creativity.... it just depends on your particular needs, IMHO.
