My muse is finally up and able to take orders. This has taken me a lot longer than I expected, but I have learned more during this process than I ever thought I could. I’m not going to go into all the gory details about how I got to where I am now with this muse, but I will say I could be the Poster Boy for Tim’s book.

I warn you now that this muse is not for everyone, but please keep an open mind and take a look. Let me know what you think about it and how I can make it better. This is the first draft (version 1.0) and I know I have a lot of work to do with content and video, but it’s a start.

By the way, during this process I found other channels I can sell this product through, so it will be interesting to see if my Internet marketing can outperform print ads.

Thanks,

As an avid sports car enthusiast, I was immediately intrigued. I'm curious to ask how it compares with something more like Hideaplate (http://www.hideaplate.com/h/hideaplate/images/plate.mov), which I believe works via electromagnetic charge of sorts. You should consider a comparison (price, etc) on your sales page to address that question, because no doubt you'll have people like myself that go to your site and immediately think of the alternatives.

As someone that's found himself with flashing lights in the rear-view on more than 25 occasions (yes, seriously) I'd immediately be concerned your product would get me in more trouble than it spares me. If I were clocked at 120 in a 55 (hypothetically, of course ;) ) and saw a cop light me up, the last thing I'm going to do is try to flip my plate and run. That's a whole new level of foolish. So again, spell out the pros and cons for me on your sales page so I don't have to wonder. The more you can address concerns proactively, the more conversions you'll see.

Speaking of your sales page - you absolutely need more of a sales letter. Something to draw me in and hype me up for what you're selling. Considering beefing up the content on your landing page and minimizing the links that take me away from the sales funnel.

Your name, Trickplate, is badass. Nice call on that.

Did you create/prototype the product yourself or are you sourcing it from somewhere?

I appreciate you taking a look at this David.

There are a lot of Privacy Glass guys out there, and while it looks really cool on video, the truth is that they just don’t work. I originally started this direction too before I found out what the biggest issues were with privacy glass:

1. The plate must be 1 to 2 inches behind the glass – otherwise it is still visible.
2. In order to have the glass transparent, you have to apply power to the glass. This means that in order to keep your plate visible, you have to apply power to the plate 24/7 – not a good for a car battery.
3. They are fragile. Slamming the trunk lid or driving off road will put an end to them fast.

I agree with adding some hype and excitement to my sales copy. I just don’t know how to go about doing that. I could talk about how cool it is to come up on a Photo Radar station with no worries, but that may be too much. As you can see I am trying to stay neutral and have my prospective customers figure out what they may use the plate for. Is this a mistake? I’d love to hear your thoughts (and anyone else) on this.

And yes, this is my design. It started out on the inside cover of my “Four Hour Work Week” book and eventually made it to paper. Then I had professional CAD done. The end result is a laser cut unit with mil-spec’d tolerances. It has come a long way since that first day in my garage with the welder and grinder ;-)

The truth of the matter is that my product is better than any of my competition - and I do have competition. I just don't know how to express that to my customers.

Update: I added "Live Agent" software to my site. I don't plan to have this here forever, but it's great being able to have a prospective customer contact us via Chat when they have questions. I can then add these to the FAQ section.

It also allows me to see in real-time how visitors are naviagating my site and where they spend the most/least time. I'm finding it valuable in that I don't have to wait for my Google Analytics reports - I can see live how each visitor found me, where they came from, etc. I'll use this to fine tune my adds and marketing network.

As a side note: During my research for the software, I may have found another muse idea. This space if very competitive, but there is a lot of room in price and functionality. The software is a very useful tool, and would not take much to come out with my own product.

Surely it's not legal? In the UK you'd get pulled whether the car was parked or not.

It's not illegal to have this on your car at all. However, it may be illegal to use on a public road way. My market is the car enthusiast at the car shows and auctions. If someone wants to use it for another reason, not much I can do about that. :D

I’ve started over with my sales copy. I’m hoping my changes are able to grab your attention and get you a bit more emotionally involved than what I had working prior. I’ve also added a bit of “urgency” with my new limited time promotion.

By adding more content and really thinking through my keywords, it’s allowed me to add a lot of long-tails that have seemed to really work out nicely. I’m hoping the new content is much more SEO friendly and I get better SE ranking.

I want to thank everyone that has taken a look and helped me with this. You can find the new site here: www.trickplate.com (http://www.trickplate.com)
