check this out, I just finished up my muse. it's been about a year long process of research and work, so it's not really just a quick thing i slapped together. i did a lot of interviewing of people, my own testing, and a bunch of other cool stuff that actually made this a blast to work on. I went live on monday and sold my first copy in about 15 hours....but i've been tweaking my adwords since then and figured it's better to take 2 weeks and research my advertising well as opposed to just jumping on the first thing that works.
i also want to make sure this customer doesn't have any issues, it's a fairly complex setup for the website. with lots of moving parts, getting the email list, blog, and 'members download section' all working homogeneously was challenging to say the least. i wanted this to be automated so customers would buy it and instantly get the product delivered, so that all works pretty well. i gave out free copies to people i knew for the past couple months and helped other friends in the past 2 years get jobs so i used them for some testimonials.
i ended up doing all the work myself, so cut me some slack if anything seems a little off. once i start pulling in some money i'll get it redesigned by someone who's actually a graphic artist and web developer, for the time being this works well. I know the website is graphic intensive, but part of the product is streaming video so i figured i'm only catering to people with high speed connections anyways.

i'm trying to get some free advertising via the media now, since the adwords cost me about $48 for my first sale, yielding a $125 profit after paypal fees. so i wrote some op-ed pieces for newspapers and i'm planning on mailing copies of samples and my story to all the smaller colleges in the new england and california areas where i'm most familiar with the demographics. anyone had any luck doing this???

Good on you.
Do some online press releases and write some articles
Your starting point would be at ezine articles for both, btu there are heaps of others like PRWEb article dashboard. article city etc.. Include a strong call to action in your bio box or in your articles
Get some drop cards up and have them placed on cars or noticeboards in your local uni's

yea i just thad 2,000 cards printed. the whole point of this thing is lifestyle design, I wanted a biz I could use to benefit my lifestyle. so the other reason for the cards is that once I start making some more cash, I can start taking advertising trips to places like cancun, fort lauderdale, LA, miami, etc to hand them out and tax deduct the trips and expenses as part of the business.
i just got back from vegas where I unloaded about 500 flyers during winter break for all the so cal colleges. so i'm hoping i can make some cash on this to make this stuff become a reality.

Your product looks like its good, but the marketing sales script and colours need some work
Black on dark green wont convert as well as other colours and its a bit hard to read...
Theres a very good reason nearly all sales scripts use white background black text, red features and bold+ yellow+ underline to highlight key word.. It sells stuff like hot cakes.. ITst the most proven way...... Ive set up three colour themed landing pages in the past for the same product , with the same wording and the one above out sells by more then 50%
Take a look at one i have running at present on one of my newer sites
http://www.autoincometoday.com/freebies.html
The black makes thier eyes go to the text
The yellow and bold shows them whats important
the red appeals to thier emotions
The white makes it super easy to read

thanks a lot, that's a good pointer. one of the reasons why I wanted to do all this stuff myself was so that i could toy around with these different tricks and gauge my results. i can easily rebrand the site to a different color theme in a couple hours and get it live...i'll see how that works. unfortunately my google analytics weren't even operating for the first couple days when i made that sale, so now that they're up and running i should be able to get some more accurate figures to show info about my users.

Guys, it's great that you have both developed your muses into websites. You've gotten further than many of the folks here just by taking that first step.
Can I suggest that you both do a major spell-check on your websites? A good sales page needs many things - and correct spelling is one of them.
I'm not your market for either of the products, but when I look at your pages and see the errors I immediately think that you're just trying to separate me from my money.
If you're selling to professionals you've got to look professional.
By the way, you can bet your butt that I spell-checked this before posting . . .

Hey Frank thanks for the heads up...two spelling errors fixed
This is tongue in cheek
If t0 speelliing eros on an emale optin page for free productz turns you of you knot gunna get farr in this busnes...
PS. just like I always do you have two to many full stops in post above....
I often make a lot of errors and so do a lot of the best products i use and buy. I know its wrong, but the best operators in this business are output and content focused adn are focused on being effective not efficient.
I know one bloke whos the best email marketer in the world, but my daughter spells better.

Matthew, as far as being uptight about spelling, guilty as charged. However, if you're trying to sell printed matter to a professional and your sales page has typos on it you're gonna lose your audience pretty quickly.
