Anyone read Perry Marshall's stuff on Google Adwords? It's like being back in college trigonometry class! Yuck!

So I got Google Adwords for Dummies...which helps, but still confusing.
I'm now looking for help in doing the 5 day test setup as Tim mentions.

Anyone hired anyone to do this?
Or are we all trying to save money and figure it out ourselves??:D
(Sorry, I just don't get how to figure out - I need help!)

I think adwords is actually very simple, but I have yet to find a resource that explains it in a competent and un-muddled way.

If anyone has found any reasonably priced ways to outsource Adwords management, I'd be interested to know too. The cheapest I've seen so far that garnered any sort of trust for me was $1500/month. Yikes for a bootstrapping startup..

/\ was just thinking about this yesterday actually.

i am gonna talk to some VA's about it.

basically i just want one email every montht that shows the effectiveness of the work that they did, and how much it costs per click

try psclickwizard.com though they are resellers and advertise across many networks (eg. google, yahoo, msn) still not a bad deal and worth a look.

Adwords is one of the things I would never ever outsource under no circumstances - the only exception being that I have a huge campaign and get some VA's to do secondary related tasks, like killing not-converting words after a week of testing under very specific circumstances laid out in detail beforehand etc.

It's really not that difficult if you get the basic principle behind and the core components there are to it. In order of appearance they are Keyword Research, Adgroup setup (Search + Content), Adwords Editor usage, Adwriting for Search (aka spam the damn keyword, once in every line if possible, and don't use dynamic keyword insertion, + AIDA-Model), Adwriting for Content, Landing Page tweaking, Quality Score Tweaking, and dumping what doesn't work.

Sounds like a lot of steps? Well, actually it's just a long way of saying RTFM, or in a more polite way, *invest into something that teaches you how to do it properly*. Nothing more, nothing less. It's a paid service and it's very very very different from how it was back when Tim Wrote the book, it was easy back then, a monkey could throw up 10k keywords and get 5 cent clicks. So basically, you could do whatever you wanted and still get cheap quality traffic.

Today, it's *still* easy, but in a very different way. In such a way in fact that it takes much longer to make other people "get" how simple it can be for them. Nowaydays there's a really long list of *don't*s and a few critical *do*'s in succeding with adwords - most people jump ship before they've thrown out all the stuff on the don't list of their campaign. Invest in proper Education about the topic, it's a paid service after all, save up some money for "tuition fees" to experiment with adwords, and you're all set.

So to recap, I think you can't really outsource it unless a) you have a few grand per month to spend and b) you outsource landing page creation, too, because landing pages are the other half of what makes your quality score and thus need to be tailored specifically to the keywords you use.

The best Resource on Adwords to date as far as I'm concerned is still Ryan Deiss' Wholesale Traffic (2000$). A rehashed and shortened version of it is available under "getmoneyfromgoogle.com" for a measily 27 bucks (beware of the membership, but it's optional) which is still high quality but obviously less detailed.

EDIT: Comission Blueprint is quite decent actually, unless you actually try to sell a clickbank product though his criteria (I've read a forum once that if go by his numbers, there are 31 Products on the entire CB marketplace that you "could" promote, all in markets so competitive a newbie might go broke before seing his first sale that isn't by pure chance). The things about Keyword tracking were gold, though, and he also explains how to work with the Adwords Editor and SpeedPPC quite nicely.

hi everyone,

i have quite a bit of experience using adwords. i agree on being very careful on outsourcing it. someone has to really know what they are doing and be able to prove it to you. it is extremely easy to make it look like you know what you are doing and the next thing you know all your cash is gone and the campaign simply "didnt work". however, what was the reason for it? there are so many variables in adwords that can make or break a campaign its not funny. seriously the best thing i have done is to do it myself and learn. yes, you are going to go through a bit of cash but in the long run its well worth it. do all the research you can and learn learn learn. good luck!

Dont outsorce your adwords in a hurry. Its too expensive, to high risk, and learning the ropes marketing is the key to your future success.. How on earth will you ever know what your customers resond to and want if your 10 steps removed from the process......

Some months ago i purchased Commision Blue Print which is an absolute god send for PPC. Its 14 Video tutorials with screenshots.. Hes not trying to sell you anything, just 14 videos over almost 10 hors to turn you into an absolute king of PPC..

Since owning that package I can get the CTR's I want high or low depending on the purpose. I run tracking id's to let me know exactly which keywords are making me money and which ones are costing me a fortune. I know which keywords to pay more for and less. After 4 years of struggling CBP turned my fortunes around from struggling to get decent CTR and if i got good CTR it cost me too much......

I dont say this lightly. ITs the second best money making product I have ever purchased.. Im now an affiliate for them so yes i do make a commission, but I will absolutely guarantee you I never sell anything I havent used, trusted and made a lot of money from. This one is definitely worth a crack.

The one prerequisite for any purchase of this package is that the money you make is dependent on PPC advertising, so you need to have a small bit of cash ready to start making income.... and you need enough to tie you over till your clickbank cheques start arriving.

I strongly agree with new rich above....

I could tell you here now in 5 seconds how to get amazingly high CTR . But high CTR is not the key.. Youd just smoke your hard earned money..Getting a balance between good CTR and high conversion is the key. You dont want ads or keywords that just any old Joe clicks on (unless its 1c and your making $30+ and recurring monthly commision). For almost anything else you want targeted and pre-qualified traffic and you need to learn which keyword phrases to pay lots for and which ones to pay virtually nothing for.

Its all about using techniques that deliver a low CPA cost per action (sale).. Different markets have differing target audiences so in one makret it may take you 1000 clicks at 1c to get a sale which is a CPA of $10, where as in another market you may only take 5 cliks per sale, but the click may cost you $2. Again a CPA of $20... Your goal is to find markets where you can get higher conversion and lower cost per click, then youve got yourself a goldmine.

I cant possibly explain it all here. Tim Godfrey takes almost 10 hours in his videos to explain it. And He does it better then any product ive seen on PPC
