I will start my first mini-retirement on March somewhere in Central-Eastern Europe. What do you guys think it is better:
1) Go to Berlin, rent an appartment, study German for 1-2 months, make friends, get to know the city pretty well living like a local and not passing by as a tourist, have fun, workout, etc.
2) Use couchsurfing.com to wander around Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Czech, Croatia, Italy, etc. making a buch of friends and experiencing a bunch of different emotions associated with freedom and strange places?
Maybe after 2) I can choose a place to settle down or maybe I will be too tired of backpack wandering, couches and hostels and will just want to go home?
Also, do you think the March-April-May weather will be a factor against wandering around in not so good weather?
My doubt is: 1) looks nice because I would really experience a culture, live like a local and have some comfort in my own place to relax. But 2) looks exciting.
What do you guys think? Any tips about places in Eastern Europe?
Thanks!
