Hi,

I have recently registered after reading the 4HWW. The book is obviously targeted towards the US, being based in the UK I wondered if anyone has any suggestions for alternative information sites?

Here are some of the ones I know about -

Confirming Sufficient Market Size -
http://www.writersmarket.co.uk/

Mailing list rental -
http://www.approvedindex.co.uk/indexes/directmarketing/default.aspx (Get Quotes from upto 8 companies)
http://www.businessmailing.co.uk/www/index.asp
http://www.electricmarketing.co.uk/

Advice on mailing lists -
http://www.dataconsultants.co.uk/consumer_mailing_lists.htm

Manufacturers & Retailers lists
http://www.esources.co.uk/
http://www.britishcompanies.co.uk/

Dropshipping
http://www.esources.co.uk/wholesale-suppliers/1082/
http://www.dropshiponline.co.uk/

I think it would be great to hear from others what useful sites they have found in relation to 4HWW.

Some other stuff I have found

Mailing list for the US -

* http://www.rent-a-list.com - you have to open an account to use their services.
* http://www.horizon-place.com - the company lets you choose among various mailing lists. Bulk mailing lists start at $200 for 600,000 addresses. Targeted mailing lists (specific occupations or ZIP code area residents) start at $60 for 5000 addresses. The lists with loose targeting (such as car owners, Internet shoppers, health insurance seekers) cost $50 for 30000 addresses.
* http://www.meesels.com - similar company, specializing in the UK addresses.
* http://www.postmasterdirect.com - mailing lists superstore with over 80000 lists available. The only disadvantage is a $1000 order minimum.
* http://www.optininc.com - another well-known e-mail marketing company, offers full range of marketing services.
* http://direc-tel.com - this company sells mostly telephone numbers and mailing addresses, but has e-mails for sale as well.

Good luck!

Hi - I am also from UK and just registered - I came across this site and am thinking about giving it a try - you just buy a website and pay for hosting and all the rest is done by them it seems - but there must be some kind of catch surely? - do you know of it?

If I find anything else good I will post on here

thanks

The catch is in the marketing.. and it's by far the hardest thing i've had to do out of anything i've ever attempted online.

I'd be hesitant to give up your job or your husband. I came close to resigning then everything went sidewards, I've found the initial profit isn't consistent and one change in your business can make the whole thing go down the tube. To do this you need to diversify into other markets as nothing is forever - I learnt this the hard way. I spent £5k on advertising in February and ended up in a semi-bidding war on google, in the end I broke even that month. Someone is always ready to undercut you, sell something cheaper or do a special offer that you just can't beat. For example, their are a lot of companies selling products where you just pay shipping to get it and then if you don't return it you get billed a month later. For the 4hr crowd this isn't necessarily do-able, easy to setup, low maintenance etc.

I would have really loved to meet you guys. Looks like I missed the opportunity as I recently moved out from London to Singapore for work.

Wish there was like minded people here for me to learn from and share ideas with.

May I ask, what do you all do at these meets ??

I'd be interested to meet up with anyone in Dublin (or anywhere in Ireland really). PM me if anyone else is doing the 4HWW thing in Ireland.

Hi Guys

Couldnt agree more - never get involved in a Price War!

And PURPLE COW, http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/014101640X, is a spectacular insight on this topic, plus a few others.

I am also originally from the UK (live in the Philippines now, run my own Outsourcing company), and have to say that I know a few people that have purchased the book and seen some great changes from its contents. I will let them know of your London meet-up's.

Best,
Chris

Hi everybody,

I bought Tim's book nearly a year ago in Austin, Texas...Started reading it last week, I wish I had read it a lot sooner...
I have been running a business and working on the Internet for several years now. I'm looking to meet up with any others who are interested in working together (Mastermind Group) or JV for Muse projects. My life is about to start changing and it would be a lot easier to work with people with similar mind sets and goals.
