i've read and appreciate everyone's views on recommendations on which provider to go with for building an e-commerce site.

i have a simple question...like the "french shirt" example from the 4 hour work week, i only want to sell (and transact) a SINGLE product on-line, yet i very much want my e-commerce site to look very professional, since it's not a cheap product.

i have never built a site before, or know anything about programming, and budget is an issue. what would be your recommendation for the resources i should use to build my e-commerce site?

thanks much!!!!!:

I'd say, learn installing open source websites yourself, and it could be that magento would fullfill all your needs.

See webgal's post in the other thread where you posted this question. Wordpress and a paypal button is the simplest/cheapest way to get started

I have posted my site before, but not lately. Check it out at www.gamebrain.us (http://gamebrain.us). I had it don through elance for $300.

Heck I will send you the entire thing in a zip file for $100 if you want. Then you could just cut and paste, which is what I am doing to localize the site for the Japanese market.

I would get an open source store front and have section for this product and host it on another URL.

For the reason that in the future you may have multiple sites that sell one product. Each one can then be forwarded to your e-store and to that specific product

making the whole process of setting your muse easier in the future.

Saying that I have a muse that is only selling 2 products, and I have did what kamakiri did, got an ecoder and had the site built for $80.
PM me I can send you the link

Hmmmmmm... now why didn't I think of this before?
