Hello all,
I read the 4HWW awhile ago and this is the first time I've made my way to this forum. I like what I'm seeing and have a question:

I noticed several of the muses you've written about have impressive media quotes about the product. One example that stood out was Jess's site:

http://www.loveandcherish.net/

How did you make this happen? I'm subscribed to Peter Shankman's Help a Reporter Out Mailing list but have had lukewarm leads there. I know Tim recommends ProfNet and ExpertClick in his book. Is this what you used? What was your experience with them? Is the cost worth it?

Thanks again. I look forward to both contributing and learning from you.

I think for most it is just plain old legg work... Finding the magazines, prepairing press info that makes their work easy, making phonecalls. I dread this kind of work. And I think it can only be outsourced with a big budget for hiring skilled people.

But if you can get this free publicity it can turn out to be very valuable. I had an interview in a digital Dutch sailing magazine in 2007 that still brings in enquiries. It is usually well worth the effort!

When the article about me appeared in Qualidade De Vida magazine in Brazil (the magazine came with a copy of my CD), in about 4 days I sold $100 worth of CDs on CDBaby. That showed me this stuff really works. More orders are probably coming in currently.

Learn how to write a good press release. I did that years ago, and it has paid off big time. I try to send out 6 a year, and I have a very thick note book of magazine, newspaper, and free paper write ups. The best thing you can do is to just start writing them. Post your press release here, and let it get torn apart.

Here is the article (http://www.pmq.com/mag/2002summer/cohen.php) that got me started. That is still one of the best articles on writing a press release out there.
