I'm happy to report that using 4HWW has been a big factor in how I got free from the office.

Earlier this year my wife and I read 4HWW. The Dreamlining / Fear-setting chapters really resonated with us. There's something about knowing where you want to be that makes it possible to make tough decisions in order to get there.

The first big tough decision came when I was offered a job in California but it would require a big pay cut. California matched our dreamline but the pay cut didn't. Still, it was important enough for us that I decided to quit my job and take the other one; a big step that I wouldn't have ever considered had I not challenged many of my fears.

My current company then responded with a significant counter offer, and most surprisingly, the chance to work remote from anywhere we choose. So now we get to live on a beach (a big dream of ours) and I get to continue doing work that I enjoy while I complete my first Muse (a team-building web application).

Another book that has helped greatly is "Simplify Your Life" by Elaine St. James. It was key in helping us eliminate the waste in our lives and helping us get to the point where we could jump up and move across the country with little warning. Essential reading if you think your big house and nice possessions are holding you back.

There's still a long road ahead for us to reach some of our more extravagant dreams, like living a few months each year in a different country, but we're closer than ever before.
