I would love to hear some people's stories about what they outsourced and on a scale of 1-10 (1 sucks, 10 is awesome) how was the quality of the work.

Thanks!

gonna make a quick post so this post will be quickly typed.

I outsourced my website design and graphic work I don't want to list the site here cause all the content is not finished. I paid so far $171 US for 17 hours at $10 an hour US and the site is 85-95% complete only cause i did not reasonably provide him with everything he needs to complete the site (like a sales copy yadda yadda yadda.) The guy was from a firm in India from Odesk.com. I stressed i wanted a person who could understand english PERFECTLY. two or three things got missed or misunderstood but i figured this was acceptable. over all He did a great job. I told him certain things i was wanting before I hired him such as ideal colors, sample sites that appealed to me that i liked , what my plans were for the site etc. He then created a site for me (or a starting template). At first it was Ehhh! ok! but plain... It didn't stand out they way i wanted...which i kinda expected....I knew i was going to need to coach him a little. I am a young guy with a good sense of urban style which i didn't expect an Indian man to have.....so combined with my vision and creative mind and his dreamweaver/photoshop design skills I sent him jpegs back of the site he created for me.....I was really trying to push the limits to see what he could handle.(lighting effects, flash banners etc.) I drawled in all the changes i wanted done with windows paint, I was very detailed but kept the words easy to understand (for a simple minded 10 year old like Tim says in the book) I even sent him other graphics to use for the logo lettering. While he was working i was also working thinking up ideas.I spent four 8 hour days looking and thinking and researching for other ideas while he was working on my site.... everyday he would send me the results he had so far. and i would tell him what i wanted changed with jpegs scrippled all over. My site has great eye candy and grabs the viewers attention now......Take control, be the boss, don't expect them to know what your thinking or wanting, help out get involved. Don't expect to much but Don't expect to little.(like Tim says) with a website design project don't expect to much if your not willing to help out creatively and provide ideas.

Not expecting a miracle worker or for him to create a perfect design first shot without my creative ideas. i give a 8-9. I was very impressed.

I am now outsourcing article writing to a woman in the Philippines, but i don't have the results yet.
