"The concept is simple: I have one week to attempt to learn what is usually learned over 5-20 years. I either crash and burn — or survive by the skin of my teeth — in a final test (trial by fire) each time.

If it’s made into a series, which depends entirely on viewership numbers on Thursday night, I’ll deconstruct a new complex skill each week. It will show you exactly how I approach learning, and no fake TV drama will be required to make the stakes real.

This episode was shot in HD in Tokyo and the mountains of Nikko, where I rolled the dice on Japanese horseback archery, or yabusame: full gallop, no hands, no safety gear, with wooden poles lining the track on either side of the horse. Please don’t do this at home. I had access to the best in the world, and you’ll get to see some never-before-seen footage of a rare and brutal samurai sport few non-Japanese have ever attempted."

I was there, saw a few others from the board. It really is too bad that the chat was filled with...hmmm... the people it was filled with (present company exempted of course). It was kind of a sad reflection on the people that follow Tim's blog.

It is no wonder that Tim didn't even bother showing up. The show wasn't bad though. I hope the $500 goes to the guy who streamed it.

He genuinely tried to answer as many questions as possible. Most of the questions were personal to whoever asked them but I think only a few of them were truly stupid. I asked many questions and about half of them were answered, and half of those only I would even care about.

I stayed in the chat for 45 minutes after the show, from the peak of 450 to about 180 ppl. No Tim. Well, there were 3 Tim, but none of them the real one. Did he show up there some time after that?

i thought his Q&A was cool. Some tool bags asking questions, but that's going to happen regardless. He had some great answers.

Marcie: Do you know if Tim is going to post the Q&A videos? I hope he does.

There were 2 chats; one at 12:00 AM Eastern US time and the other at 12:00 AM Pacific US time.
