View Full Version : Safety of Outsourcing to India?

I have the perfect job for outsourcing -- updating a sunglasses company's website, which involves repetitious uploading. Unfortunately there are a LOT of glasses out there to upload, and I could really use some help.

Of course, if I get help, I would have to give away the password to a website I don't own and the password to the wholesaler websites (where the user could buy an unlimited amount of sunglasses) so one could download the photos. That's giving a lot of power to someone I don't even know.

So how trustable are these Indian companys? Should I just look for someone local who I could trust, but would cost much more? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've worked with a few Indian companies on projects exceeding 1MIL and found them to be just as honest and their US counterparts, that is, some honest, others not. I don't feel an increased concern with what you're talking about. If we're talking direct access to funds, maybe so, but I'm concerned with that regardless.

Any of these should be good, but to be honest for basic repetitive work that involves access to a client server, I would start out with a posting on the "gigs" section of craigslist. Have good luck with that here in a large college town (Austin) and a lot less cumbersome.

I have actually paid (and been paid on occasion lol) with Starbucks gift cards.

AND on a safety note, why not create an ftp account with read/writeonly to a non-web directory? Then just copy em over. Just got to get the naming conventions right - but I have done that when server access and security is an issue.
