I'd like to take the time to introduce myself and possibly get some inisight and/or help from the community. The 4HWW has been one of the most life changing and influential books I've read. Its summarized everything I've been frustrated with in mainstream work environments but never knew how to provide a solution to, until now.
My partner and I are both in the US Navy & are working on putting Tim's advice to the test. We are both deployable & at times will have little to no communication & other times will be restricted to email only for several months. We are both scheduled to get out of the service in 2009 & would like to have a fully functional automated business running so neither of us have to worry about being on the job market & can spend more time at home or traveling with our families. Afterall, we're gone 70% of the year & work our asses off when we're not out there so we think we deserve a little more then what the corporate market can offer. We're both stationed in Hawaii, and although he will be here until 2009, I will be transferring elsewhere around October, thus giving us some deadlines to meet while we're here & making the 4HWW an even bigger challenge that we're determined to overcome. Adapting Tim's advice to the Navy's work environment has been challenging, mainly due to the fact that they focus more on how many hours you put in as opposed to the quality of work you perform (ie: shine your shoes and keep your uniform "crisp".. it doesn't matter how hard you work or how much you accomplish afterwards). Since we're forced to be there even after we're finished with our work, we've focused our attention towards starting our own business with the remaning 5+ hours a day that we have.
We've recently filed for incorporation (LLC) in Delaware & are awaiting the final paperwork to be mailed to us. We've got a small marketing plan for our muse, as overhead will be low, but we're still trying to figure out the automation part or getting the right VA to handle everything from processing orders to ensuring that the product gets to the customer and/or distributor.
We're interested in the sports nutrition market, but we're having a hard time finding a custom vitamin manufacturer to work with. There's a few I've found through google but it seems like they mostly work with individuals wanting something special for themselves as opposed to bulk orders/businesses. Their inventory of available suppliments are also limited & don't meet our products requirements. We have some capital, mostly from our own personal accounts.. on military pay this is very limited but we'd like to make it work without borrowing anything.
I'm looking forward to being a part of this community.. both learning from the vets and contributing to those that we can help. Thanks ahead of time, fellas.
