Hello all,

I'm currently working on a muse about selling a software I've built on my own.

By reading the terms of use of the development tool I use (which is free but not open-source) to build my software, I've seen that I couldn't sell any software developed with the development tool unless I buy a license.
Such a license is quite expensive (from $300 to $800) and I don't really need this development tool for other things than the software I'm coding.

Did some of you already encounter such issue?
If yes, how did you resolve it?

I've thought about hiring an elance guy who had licensed the tool, give him my code and ask him to give me a receipt of "having developed the code" in order to be clean regarding the licensing.
I've never used elance, do you think this is possible? (allowed?)

Thanks in advance

I highly recommend you buy the license. Because if you have to do any kind of update, fix etc. you'll need to rehire the elance guy, and after a while that solution will not be cost effective.

Thanks for your response storm33229.

I'm aware that I'll have to be extremely careful when dealing with updates and fixes.
However, I prefer not to buy the license until my muse takes off because it is (in my opinion) too much for a starter bet regarding the software I've created (quite small one...)

That's why I was looking for other possibilities in a first time...

Best,

Well then I guess it just depends on the cost of using the elance programmer.
