Hey,
I have 2 quick questions for you:
1. I live in Canada. I am planning to live remotely, and travel the world. Currently setting up a muse. Would it be smarter to structure payment in Euros (or any better performing currency), instead of US or CAD?
2. Does having a business online transcend all of the visa laws, business laws and the such? As in I can sell globally without a "business Visa" etc.?
These may be basic questions, forgive me. Because in my mind, it would make sense to charge in whatever currency is best performing, and it seems that business on the internet really does transcend location, and you can virtually sell anything to anyone from anywhere.
If I am missing something let me know. If I am not, this is MASSIVELY exciting.
Thanks guys!
JD

I know that someone here mentioned inserting a bit of code that detects where a visitor is, physically, and displaying the correct currency for their location. I would recommend looking into something like this, so that you are available to everyone.

Hi:
I am also an Canadian that is doing what you mention above. I rarely visit Canada anymore due to the climate but travel instead.
I agree with the above that you want to code the page to display currency based on the location of the visitor. Much more appealing to people to be able to see the cost in their currency rather than forcing them to do conversions. This is easy to do and there are plenty of scripts out there to handle this.
In regard to visa the short answer is no. Having on online business does NOT exclude you from meeting visa requirements. What is does is remove the problems of a business visa and make it easier to travel because you are on a tourist visa.
I travel all the time as a 'tourist' who happens to carry a laptop and connect online every day or so to check out what is happening and, if necessary, fix anything that needs fixing.
I am NOT in business in that country. The business is located in a low-tax zone and all transactions go thru there. The fact that I check my email when I am 'on vacation' is no problem. Millions do it every day ;)
Hope this help (and makes sense).

I know who suggested that.
It is a simple thing to set up. Throw it out on Elance. Your site reads the IP, then automatically enters the currency. In the internet age, that is your least of worries.
I have also said again and again, that not paying taxes is the fastest way to a ZERO hour work week. You also get zero TMI and zero expenses in jail, but I wouldn't want to go there. The excuse of, "I didn't know I had to pay." works just about as well in this case as telling the nice police officer that you didn't know the speed limit. The place for qualified tax advice is not this forum.
Taxes are not a priority here people (well paying them is of course). Sales are. Focus on sales. With high sales all other problems tend to fix themselves.
