My "expertise" is running small businesses. I have owned my own for over a decade but partner with another company so oversee some of their stuff and they cover for me as needed. I've managed other small businesses in other industries so it's not the product/service that is of importance to me - I could plug into just about any type of small business and have no problem.
The last couple of months, there have been situations in the other company in which I have had to step in and take over some jobs. This has given me the opportunity to see what those employees do, how long the actual work takes and what changes can be made. So far I have streamlined a couple of tasks and have made recommendations for another. I've also introduce them to what VAs are. The goal is to elimante one part time person, outsource some of the work including some that should be handled by people who know what they are doing (currently they have been using the "learn as you go and hope it works method" which wastes time and money instead of letting someone do it who knows how to). With any luck, we will have everything properly redistributed, steamlined and/or outsourced by the end of the year which will mean less work and more free time for the other owners and myself while maintaining/increasing profits.
For me, personally, I just simply need to get more organized, batch and eliminate time wasters for my own work on a consistant basis. I'm also consdering getting an iphone and/or laptop which will allow me to roam more.

I am a student, so I cannot vote either. Maybe "general labor" at the moment.
I do a pretty good job of maintaining my grades with a minimal amount of time spent on assignments/reading/homework. I plan to put those same skills to use on my business, once I get one up and running.

I'm the IT industry, I have a few muses running and I've managed to take a few mini retirements this year. We went to Papua New Guinea for a little while earlier this year and we're heading over to Perth, Australia for 2 months as well.
It's been an interesting journey. I'm still working on a few muse ideas and hoping to go full time into the New Rich world by mid next year, just depends on a few more home runs :-)
I always swing for the fence.. sometimes that means I spin around and land on my butt. other times I knock it clear out of the park.

I work in recruitment, based in Melbourne, Australia but hope to be all done with it on June 30, 2009. So far on track.
My suggestion: If someone else is paying you to work while you are developing a muse/muses then take as long as you can, just get it right!

What type of marketing consulting do you do?
More on the side of getting the word out. Plans and implementation for print ads, collateral, radio, direct mail, internet, branding etc.
