Hey everyone,
I just picked up this book in at the store while I was looking for my summer reading books, and I found it extremely inspirational. I'm 16 years old, and i'm going to be a Junior in high school. I have already started a web design business with my friend from school -- we've had one client so far. The only thing i'm worried about is maintenance. Things sometimes take forever to fix. For example, i'll have to submit a support ticket to the company that I buy hosting from (I have a reseller account, and I sell web hosting to others). Sometimes they don't get back right away, and things just go wrong. Other time things go fine. But the thing is, can I actually get enough clients to make a great profit? I won't have that much time during the school year -- 2 hours a day to make sure everything is running smoothly at best. I'm not really sure what to do. I rather not hire other people to do the job for me, as I don't have enough money to do so. Any suggestions?

Here is my website if you would like to check it out.

Thanks,

Max

I suggest finding a higher-quality web host, especially if you're acting as a re-seller of their services. Their lack of response reflects poorly on you and your clients will only perceive it as bad service from you.

Hi Max,

I've recently started to utilize Media Temple (http://www.mediatemple.com) as my new hosting provider and have had great success.

Since your site looks to be done as pure static html, this hosting provider would be great for you. They cost me $20/mo and provide some reseller services.

Make sure you sign up for the Grid Service, it's a new kind of service where instead of hosting your sites on one box that might crash when a huge traffic surge occurs, they share your sites over several boxes and increase / decrease as your site traffic needs.

I love seeing such a young entreprenuer as yourself make the choice to live outside of the 9-5 rat race. At your age, it wasn't even a thought in my head that there was anything else other then 9-5 so major R E S P E C T to you my man.

Keep in touch and let us know how it goes...

Hey rgraner! Thanks for the reply, i've checked out Media temple. Their services look awesome, looks like a good deal. The downside is I won't be able to resell separate control panels to my clients, and that's a major issue for me since I want clients to have more control than just FTP and SSH. Thanks for the information though, that might be a possibility in the future.
