I'm creating a DVD on How to Create a Positive Lifestyle: Overcoming Anxiety and Depression for Young Women.

I know the title is too long. But I am a psych nurse and feel real passion for this! Any suggestions appreciated? :rolleyes:

Your product will not make any money at all. There are thousands like it, and thousands more are in the pipeline. Nothing in that description stood out as a decent draw or USP.

That aside, you can make lots of money off your product. That is contingent on how you handle the business side. Marketing, fulfillment, design, content, ... There are thousands of great products out there that just aren't selling the way they should. The success or failure of your muse depends 99% on the execution, and 1% on the actual substance.

Instead of going for a DVD, start the process with a blog. If you can build up a network of subscribers, and people who read and comment on your posts, then you can move on to the next step. You aren't going to drop to 4 hours of work a week over night any way, so you might as well take it step by step. Learn a bit of internet marketing, SEO,... with the blog, and go on from there.

I could probably fit your demographic - young(ish) woman and I went through a bout with depression several years back so I can see the value of your product. So now the best bet would be to check the market research. There's already a lot of self-help stuff out there which probably means there's a market for a lot of stuff so the trick will just be to market it well - How will your product stand out from the rest?

Consider that there may be alternate target demographics other than young women who might be more likely to purchase this type of DVD.

Your target audience could be focused on:
Parents
Church groups
Schools
Rehabilitation centers
hospitals
summer camps / programs

For example, if you are able to portray strong credentials and testimonials as a psych nurse, you could sell whole DVD series to various rehab centers, intended for the patients or a companion set for the care-givers.
