I was reading a WikiHow article on How to Buy a Private Island (http://www.wikihow.com/Buy-a-Private-Island).
And the most interesting piece of information was a newsletter called Caretaker Gazette (http://www.caretaker.org/). It's devoted to advice and information for property owners and leads for house sitting jobs.
If you are looking to get away and can find a situation with onsite or close-by internet access, this could be a cool opportunity to live in an interesting place and still run your mini-empire!
Anyone tried this before or know anyone who has had success?
When my wife and I stayed on Ranguana Caye (http://www.robertsgrove.com/html/ranguana_caye.html) last year, we got to know the two caretakers on that beautiful tiny island. The normal caretakers were local and stayed on the island six weeks at a time and then were off for two weeks. Our caretakers would drop in to cover at various islands when the normal folks were off. Fixing meals, making drinks, shimmying up the coconut tree to get some fruit. But mostly hanging out and enjoying the peace and quiet. Not a bad life.
