I have stumbled across a very decent resource http://www.opensourcecms.com/

The have lots of categories of free open source software:

they all have live demo's set up so you can log in and check out the look/feel/features of every one of the list of 180+ cms' they have available.

They also have them rated so you can check out the top few in any category. have fun

I don't have time to look at this right now, but I've got this thread saved so that I can come back later and browse through it. I've been a fan of Open Source software since 2000, so I'll definitely be checking it out.
