View Full Version : Automation of Enjoyment?

I decided that I should step back a bit and try automating for fun something that can blow up in my face with no problems before I do something that can lose me money, so I posted an item on domystuff.com to have somebody grind a WorldOfWarcraft character for me. Not sure if I can post the link, so I wont.

What automation of enjoyment - not for your business - have you done?

i once used an autoclicker to skill crafting on a online mmorpg that has a real cash economy, does that count?

At best that kind of stuff is frowned on by the gaming community, at worst it is just plain against the EULA and you account will be banned, leaving you worst off than you were before.

I play quite a few games, and understand the relaxing nature, but come on. Is it really enjoyment? It is really nothing if someone else is doing it.

I don't quite get outsourcing enjoyment... I thought that's what the aim of the whole 4HWW thing was (to have more time to spend doing the things you enjoy).

Unless you mean facilitating enjoyment by outsourcing the laborious aspects??

Runescape?? :O

Badhank I thought you permanently left the forum (and the 4HWW principles) or was that someone else?

I used an macro-program to craft on DAoC pretty successfully. It's not really outsourcing enjoyment to grind, because that's pretty boring stuff.

Anyways, this isn't an MMO thread, it's about things you outsourced outside of business.

I hired a chick in india to do some prank calls for me off a script, and record the conversations. I had her F w/ my ex-gf to, pretending to be a jealous hooker, and yelling at my ex to stay away from me.. good times, good times.

I think the point of enjoyment is so that you enjoy it and don't make something or someone else enjoy it? or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

I enjoy the upper level (70) game content using a 52" TV in WoW since I only have one eye that works at all (I love to fly, and your mounts dont fly till lvl70), but I hate the idea of all the hard work to get to that lvl/skill. So I outsourced the part I did not like so I could have the part that I did without having to suffer for it.

This is what I'm asking; Has anybody done the same sort of thing?

Kinda, a long time ago I used to have scripts that would grind for you in Runescape

Okay - here's an example.

I wanted to have a Eurovision party and outsourced organising it. All the decorations, booze, invites and logisitics were sorted by someone else. I just turned up. That was fun!

I also love fabulous clothes but hate shopping so I send someone else to pick my clothes out for me and then she comes with all the bags, I try stuff on and if there's anything I don't like she takes it back to the shop for me. I simply give her a cheque + percentage and she's a happy bunny too.

I also quite like trying to outsource tasks which are a bit unusual to our VAs abroad - I think it keeps it interesting for them and I also think it's a good way to test their comprehension before giving them anything time critical to do.
