Hi Guys.

Quick question for you all.

I have four business ideas and am currently in the process of getting the website of one of these designed.

Should I just concentrate on the one idea or should I just go for it and test the others and if successful start on them as well?

I can understand your frustration in trying to decide among four options. It must be tough, especially knowing what those options are.

Now, I am going to ask a favor of you...please re-read your request, and put yourself into the shoes of the other members here, who have no Earthly clue as to what those ideas might be.

Given this, how would you propose to give yourself advice, if you were in our place?

Yes focus on one. Work it out first, get the basics and when you make that one work, move on to the next. You might need several lower paying muses to collectively bring your income to where you need it to be.

I would suggest starting and focusing on one muse, then once it's automated and going strong, start the next one, if you want to.

Personally, I have a bunch of ideas that I'd like to try out. Two are fairly easy and I want to try them right now. They might not bring in a lot of money, but are very easy on the time demands. However, I have already started what I consider my "main" muse. If I stop working on it to work on these others, or even allow myself to be distracted, I know it will take longer to get it going.
So I keep a running list of muse ideas and some rough notes on the ideas. Then, when I have tested out my main idea and a) it doesn't work out or b) it it works and is self-sustaining, then I will be ready to start again.

I would suggest you do the first one, get an idea of the process you like, make it work for you, and then after that you can do the rest however you please. Its the first one that needs a lot of attention, it will dictate how you do the rest

Multi tasking stuff like is like multi tasking anything. It was the rage in the 80s, but the reality is that it just doesn't work. You could take 25 paper clips, rubber bands and key rings, have one person attach 5 clips to 5 bands and thread 5 rings; and another do the clips first then thread all rings and the person focusing will win 100% of the time.

Do you have a plan for any of your muses? Ideas don't really account for much unless you have a plan of action and a clear idea of what needs to be done. Your ideas and assumptions about the muse can be 100% wrong, but you will gain a ton from just moving forward with them. Action creates inertia that can carry you through the mistakes to success. Just be sure to never make the same mistake twice. No one has ever been successful who didn't make many mistakes along the way, I know the more I make the more I make.

Trust me on this..

Focus on your most valuable, easiest, quickest to implement idea that you are passionate and knowledgeable about.

Build that up completely and once it's generating $1k-$3k profit/day and the income is stable, move on to your next idea.

Focus. Focus. Focus. Trying to do too many things will mean that you will either miss something important or not any of them. Choose the one that you are most passionate about and truly believe you can make a success - who knows in the end you may be able to integrate all of you ideas - what ever they are.

As for those who are trying to get hold of your ideas - don't as you most likely could not succeed with them as they are not your ideas - meaning you would have difficulty putting 'you' into the business.

How about scribble them all down (then you won't "miss" any blindingly brilliant ones!) and then take the strongest idea with the quickest return to research?

The danger is you spread yourself too thin trying to do 10 things at once (I'm uber guilty of this all the time!) and end up achieving nothing. Repeat after me: I must not multitask!

lol it has been scientifically proven that the following formula is always true:

My brain is always overflowing with ideas, so I know where you are coming from. With me, what I do is write up an essay (5,000 - 20,000 words) about each idea. Not a business plan, just some thoughts on why I like the idea, and what attracted me to it, and stuff like that. Usually I post these random thoughts online and ask my readers to comment on them.

An example of this would be my hobby. I'm a CosPlayer/costumer. It's in my blood. While I may at some point in the future turn my costume making into a career, for the moment it is just a personal hobby that I do in my spare time. Well, like when deciding on a career, move, when I'm deciding what costume I should make next, I write up an essay. For my latest project I wrote this one: http://www.squidoo.com/LordSesshomaruCostume
which ended up getting too long for one website and resulted in my also writing this one: http://www.squidoo.com/LordSesshomaruCostume2
and since 170,000 words just wasn't enough I also wrote this one http://www.squidoo.com/LordSesshomaruHistory
and this one http://www.squidoo.com/InuYasha558
and this one http://www.squidoo.com/LordSesshomaruCrossDresser
and this one http://www.squidoo.com/Mokomoko
and this one http://www.squidoo.com/CosPlayKimono
and if you think that's a lot, I didn't stop there, I just kept on going and wrote a whole bunch more and in the end I had written 19 websites and some 800,000 words! OMG!

Well, I came to the conclusion, that if I can love a character enough to write 19 websites and 800,000 words of commentary on them, than that is without a doubt the next costume on my list of costumes to make. And now I am currently sewing that costume up.

So, what does any of this have to do with you? Well, I recommend that you take one of your muse ideas and just start writing some random stuff about it. See where it takes you. Pour your living passion into every drop of ink, and see if when you are done you still find yourself filled with the passion to pursue this muse.

Than, take your next muse idea, and do the same thing. Repeat with all of your muses, until you feel there is nothing left you can say about any of them. Than go back and look at each of them again. Did one of them stand out to you more than the others? Did one of them, pull at your heart strings more than the others. Did you get bored with any of them while writing? Believe me, if you get bored writing about your muse, than that it not the right muse for you, so drop it and find another! Was one of them, an idea that you felt so strongly about that you just kept writing and writing and writing and you are driving your family crazy because you can't stop talking about it? If so than that is the one for you.

Sorry to be long winded. I get that way, I know. I hope that trying this exercise helps you out, cause it always helps me.
