Can anyone recommend a great place to stay long term in Barcelona, Spain or around there?

Hi,

If you want something cheap, I'd try the edge between Tarrassa and Manresa. There are some locations between those that are OK, well communicated by train and less expensive than living in the center.:)

Regards from Madrid!

There are a couple english language publications in barcelona. Can't remember the names right now, but when I was there last year I noticed several apartment listings in the back of them. You might do well to plan on staying in a hostel for a couple weeks while looking for a place. When you're there you'll be able to ask around and get some local info.

This is by far the best way to do it. You can explore potential areas and take your time. You don't want to go to a new city and be locked into an apartment that doesn't suit what you want.

i suggest Conil. i spent a summer there a few years ago. it's close to the southern tip of spain (1 hour south of Cadiz i believe) and totally secluded from american culture. it's a tiny town painted all white with a really beautiful beach. highly recommended.
