Hello,

In the book, Tim briefly mentions spending time aboard a research vessel and snorkeling in Panama for next to nothing. This got me thinking...

This Xmas I was invited to a friends home in Pakistan but I've looked at flights and the cheapest I can seem to find is just under $3k. I starting thinking differently and was wondering if anyone knew of sources where people can travel via alternatives (container ships, freight planes, etc) for much much less. There's got to be a way, I think it's just hidden.

Thanks

Biz

Christmas is in December. Now is June. 6 months. Make an additional $40 a week and you have the trip paid for.

I gotta ask though, why would anyone spend Christmas in an Islamic country?

This is during Xmas break from school and so I have a while off, but in addition, for my friend and his family it is a time of weddings and celebrations. He said it would be a really fun time to go.

Thanks for crunching the numbers, but I'm still curious if there are alternative to use in the future.

Try jetcombo.com - They provide discount tickets all over the world.

Hi there

I'm not sure if you're a teacher or a student at the school you mention, but if it's the latter, then check out statravel.com

I've used them 3 times now and recently got a ticket from UK to Bangkok returning from Kuala Lumpur with Emirates for just over £500 (which I thought was pretty good)

I think you have to be under 25 or a full-time student to qualify for their lower prices.

Hope that helps anyway

Jon :)
