Muse Howto:
Many talk about getting some business online but they dont have the money to get it up and running.
This shuld be a little howto on bulding a online-shop, where I try to keep the cost down.
What I use in this example is an online shop, selling shaving machines.
The first thing I do is to go to godaddy.com and buy SHAVEMACHINES.COM, this cost $10 for a year.
Then when choseing a hosting plan at godaddy, I chose "Economy Plan" at $4.29/month for 2 months. That is another $10.
Then go at get your shop software @ oscommerce.com, this is a freebie = 0$ :)
Upload and configure you shop. Its easy but require some web knowlege. (GAF if you can't do this you self. However pay max $5 since it only takes 10 min. if you know what you doing)
Delete all the demo products and start adding 4-5 (braun, phillips) brands that you know sells and add those brands to the "Manufacturers" list.
Find 2 products like: http://shavershop.com/index.php?file=productdetail&skuid=8995&cat_id=117 and copy/paste the info into your own product form in oscommerce.
Setup every thing you can do by yourself in OScommerce.
Go to "GAF" (http://www.getafreelancer.com/), just pay the $5 fee - you dont need the full packet. These $5 you will get back.
Ask for someone to add a product to your oscommerce site. You can get approx. 100 products done for $60 (they will even find the product for you.Simply show them how you wanted it done, with the 2 products you added your self (I have one i can recommend, however she is bussy adding for me).
Next step is that you ask on GAF, when you need some work done on the shop itself, that you can't do yourself, eg. design, setup, banners, methods of payment, methods of delevery. This cost about $5-$50.
From this point on you actually don't have to work anymore for the next 4-6 weeks. Just placing ordres with your VA, sit back and play and enjoy a good game of GTA 4. Thats what owners do :)
When you have gotten critisism from freinds and "haters" (the kind of people, who allways point out the mistakes you have made, in forums etc.) and evaluated that critisism and you feel ready to launch your new shop, go ahead and do it!
But how?
I suggest you start out with Addwords (Google). Make a champain you think will run, but use no more than $10-$25 per day. Let it run for 2, 3 or 4 days and then use all the Addwords optimizing tools. They are free and will help you alot!
Now you have a nice idea of what it will cost to use Addwords. Go to our freind GAF once again and ask for someone to update/optimize your Addwords accunt. You have done a great job with Addwords, but someone out there can shape it for you. They charge around $10 for optimizing your champain - it's worth it!
You can use the same guy or get a new guy to SUPER OVER SPAM the internet with your banners and links. No actually, remember that spam is illigal - and fucking annoying - so always make sure that new adviters/linkbuilders/graiglist you get from posts at GAF knows that you have a zero spam tolerance! Spam will kill your business in no time.
Now you allready have some good and serious "employees" on GAF. Use them (Good and loyal workers are gold)! Pay them for finding the best prices for all of your products once a week and make them update your new prices (10% more than the cheapest shop/product?).
You can get a VA to send a mail/ordre to the shop that sells the product your costumer want and make that shop send it for you! (dropshipping)
