I have an email list that I have been building over some time and need some advice sending to the whole list.
Some of the names are old and no longer work. Which is the problem I'm haveing with Aweber. I'm looking for a way to send an Opt-In type email to them to verify their addresses and see if they would like my newest newsletter. I had been sending it straight from my personal email account, but I need to really track them.
Any suggestions?

look at verticalresponse.com and constantcontact.com - these 2 services will help with the opt-in, keep track of duplicates and give you stats on the success of your email campaign. not expensive at all either.

I use phplist. But it's not real consumer friendly. But it's free. In other words, the others listed here, will be more user friendly. I like mailchimp, too.

In case you're interested, I did a blog recently on email. Open Rates and email (http://webpreppro.com/blog/index.php/2008/05/05/email-marketing-tips-on-improving-your-email-open-rates/)

Keep in mind as well that here in Washington at least, its a crime on the state level to send unsolicited email to market a product; That is, if they think its spam they can have you fined for thousands of dollars.

I'm told that using the law against spam in my state makes for a great secondary income, so you may want to be careful. Simply adding a "click here to be removed" link is not always enough under the law. Its better not to send it.
