My business idea includes consulting other businesses to increase efficiency. I have a degree in the area that I would be consulting. However, because I graduated young, I am still much younger than money people in consulting. Do you all feel this would be an issue, or would the way I present myself matter more?

In my limited experience with consultants, and knowing friends who are consultants, experience counts as much as a degree, unless you are starting out at E&Y, Andersen (or whatever they call themselves now), etc.

My day job is this exact thing - business process improvement using technology and business process analysis.

I work all day with Andersen, Accenture, E&Y, etc.

This is going to be a tough nut to crack - and it doesn't change the time for money model.

If I were you, I would think about ways to build credibility as an expert, create a video, blog site or other deliverable and see if you can make your knowledge repeatable.

I would actually be specifically consulting hospital units, my degree is a healthcare degree.

Just wondering if that would change your opinion?

Thanks,
Nathan

i know there is a ton of job opportunities in your field, but not really 4hww type jobs... but then again everyone that got into any type of healthcare related field should have understood that...

In healthcare it's even worse - I work in the healthcare world - I deal with Fortune 500 - 3 health care accounts in the Fortune 100 - and that world is even more dependent on more experience and more time if you are consulting.

Unless, however, you can think of some kind of product or service that makes you repeatable that you could sell to instutional buyers that doesn't require your presence.
