Tim referenced an online datebook in T4HWW.
Could those who use online calendar/reminder programs share what they work and why it is effective? Also, could someone remind me of what Tim had referenced?
Thanks,

I try to use the calendar function in Outlook. It's not on-line, but it's computerized so it vaguely fits the criteria of your query.

I find it helpful because it has more than just a datebook: it has reminders, and the capacity to send and receive events as emails, and automatic links (if you know how to enable them) to other parts of Outlook (contacts; tasks).

I find it problematic because you have to spend so much time inputting the information about a given event, that it's really hardly worth the effort for some of the more mundane tasks, to get them into computer form merely so you can then go about doing them.

Hey Final Id, thanks for the response. I am looking soley for web based calendars/schedule websites/programs that can be accessed anywhere, ideally open to sharing, that send email reminders(preferably to multiple groups of people). I would also like an answer to my question of the one Tim mentions in his book, my copy is in another location right now :)

On page 79 it looks like Tim recommends using just a small piece of paper to restrict the number of items you can put on your to-do list.

I do separate my tasks from my calendar, because task entry into a calendar doesn't work very well for me.

I use Google Calendar, which I like (I'm tried a bunch of others, and it is hands down my favorite). For me the best part is being able to set up my default notification options, so that any appointment is sent as an SMS message to my phone. I don't have to remember what is coming up once it's in my calendar. And that I get an email every morning with my agenda for the day. I look at that, figure out how much time I have for other work tasks, and then figure out my daily priorities, and have a quick online status meeting with my team to make sure our priorities are aligned.

For tasks I really use the system I've been developing. I really wanted a way to capture everything, be able to sort it/remix it so I could really evaluate which tasks were actually going to be valuable out of all the things I think of that I could do, and would allow me to handle delegation. Email delegation always failed me because searching through my sent mail every time I needed to verify whether I sent the tasks took a lot of time, and it didn't give me a way to find those very easily in the midst of other email. The free version is still in beta, but if it would be useful to anyone else, here's a walkthrough: http://www.enleiten.com/products/personal

Google calendar rocks flat out...Honestly it is free and can be shared or displayed easily.

I'd also like to give a shout out to google notebook. In fact, I pretty much love everything google makes.

I use Outlook at my job, but only because others do as well.

For personal scheduling, my wife and I share a Yahoo Calendar and it is great for us. I think it may have email notification, but I've never tried it.

My daily to-do list is tracked simply with a plain text Notepad file on my desktop. The simpler and better for me!

I think that Drupal (website cms) offers a calendar module and even a booking module should you be interested. All for free.

Sincere thanks to all the responses and suggestions. I am leaning toward google options, but haven't ruled any out yet. The answer to my question about what Tim talked about in the book was www.myevents.com
thanks again,

You may give a try to http://www.gtadgenda.com

It's web based, you have a calendar and you can set unlimited schedule templates. These are two separate sections.

I use Airset. www.airset.com (http://www.airset.com). It includes a bunch of other interesting and useful features, in addition to the calendar-- and the ability to have several shared calendars, a personal calendar, blogs, etc.
