Ok, so after setting up my muse, quitting my day job and traveling around for 8 months, I have decided that my passion is coaching other business owners. About 3 weeks ago I decided to start marketing that part of my business.

In 3 weeks, I secured 7 paying clients just from networking and digging into my network! Hurray! Now, I'm a little embarrased to admit this, but I decided it was time to put up a website, so I hired my favorite designer and we sat down to talk about what I wanted from the site.

I had decided what I wanted it to look like and the feeling I wanted to come across, and then she said "So, what's the business called?"

D'oh! I had forgotten to pick a name!

So if anyone feels like helping out here, I'd appreciate it.

I need a name and a tagline. My market is smart entrepreneurs, especially ones who want to increase the number of clients they serve and increase their revenue.

The two things I'd like to emphasize are action and ambition (action coach and ambition coaching are already taken).

Taking action is where any success comes from and I think helping my clients to take the right action in the right size steps is my unique selling proposition. Ambitious describes both me and my clients very well, and that's why I'd love to convey that in the name somehow.

The best name I think that I have come up with so far (thanks David!) was Am-bitch-ous Coaching. That is already taken - darn!

I love that it's catchy, memorable and creates a picture for people when they hear it. It's a bit hard to spell and to understand though (I had to tell everyone the name twice before they got it).

So here are some of the options I'm looking at now.

Names I like, but that I feel aren't quite right yet
Back of the Napkin Success Coaching - close. I might go with this one.
Head2Head Coaching - kinda predictable and cliche
Activ-ation (or Activation) - don't think this is catchy or memorable enough
A Lever Long Enough (Archimedes - give me a lever long enough, and I can move the world!)-not specific enough to coaching
Butt-In-High-Gear Coaching
Gett-her Done - I'm not a redneck, so this sorta clashes
Pro-Active - already a product name
Cream of the Crop Coaching
Head of the class - I don't encourage judging success in relation to others, so maybe a clash in value here

I also like the idea of mixing two or three words together to create a completely new, trademark-able word. Here are a few I've come up with.

Ambiction - ambitious + action
Ambitionator - terminator clone
Ambitionista - I think fashionista when I hear this one
Ambitionella - italian phrase - Miguel says it means beautiful ambition
Bella ambicione - same phrase, but split up - a little easier to pronounce and remember I think

Some tag lines I've come up with that I think are pretty good:
Action-focused coaching for ambitious entrepreneurs - too big of a mouthful?
Direction and perspective for smart entrepreneurs
Ambitious business coaching
Direction. Perspective. Support.

Any thoughts? Good idea comments? Bad idea comments? Other suggestions?

Thank you for taking the time to look at this. You are awesome!

Sure. I charge $500 to come up with a winning business name for you and a tag.

To be honest (and I should be) I dont like any of the names... if those are for your online marketing! I would suggest using an easier name, with low or little chance of making typos!

Im not that creative with names... but I like names that has a certain meaning... I am Danish and found the name Kaupferd for my business by looking through an old dictionary for the language the vikings used (close to icelandic) Kaupferd means something like business travel, or trading trip which is quite meaningful to my company! (which I do not operate anymore!) the vikings went on to kind of trips; viking (where they killed and ravaged) and kaupferd (where they did "fair" trading) ;)

So my hint for you is to find the words you like and browse through for an example greek dictionary or latin dictionary (there might be some online versions)

Hope you can use my idea!

:D

Great idea, thanks! Yes, I agree - I don't like those names very much either - hence the pleading post!

I'll check out some dictionaries today and see what I can find. I'm still looking...

I hope these help, I just came up with them off the top of my head, so no guarantee on quality--

ActivAction -- Activity + Action
MotAmbition -- Motivation + Ambition
ProAmbition -- Sounds kind of like prohibition, but I think it is a little catchy.

Hope this helps! Good luck by the way!

Welcome back Rebecca! Since you like the napkin one, my thought was, is there really a "back" to a napkin? What about "Cocktail Napkin Coaching" or something like that? At the least perhaps you could use that as some sort of visual or tagline...

Okay,

Rebecca, I guess my first question to you is, what exactly is it that you do? "Coaching" is a crutch word that gets abused in consulting. It is used because they really don't know what else to call the work they are doing.

Are you helping entreprenuers with business plan formation? Are you looking at business process operations to find inefficiencies? Or are you just scamming for cash?

In any event, your name should reflect what your mission statement is about(that is if you have one.) If you haven't written a formal business plan yet, now is the time. This is a fact that Mr. Ferriss neglected to include in his book; one that I know very well he did before attacking any of his ventures.

Any good business person knows they need a solid business plan to work from, in order to streamline their business model. Actually, Tim's book does do a good job of showing parts of his business plan, such as the Operations Flowchart. My suggestion is to make sure you have done your research and created a solid blueprint for yourself before you go too much further.

And as far as the business name, how about Accebar BPO Consulting, LLC?

Cheers,

eknapp

i dont know if you should be so focused on the word "coaching"

and the word action and ambitious could just be in the slogan. i dont think it has to stay in the name

why not gearing the name towards the term "mentoring"
"active mentoring for the ambitious entrepreneur"

as for the name...there are lots of services you can use that cost a lot less than $500 that was posted here

Rebecca,

You stated that your business is coaching. I think all of the names suggested are inappropriate. You are selling a service, yes, but primarily, you are selling yourself; your expertise, insight, etc. What you are not selling is a product. In this case it is entirely appropriate to use your own name or some other simple name like "Rebecca Lastname, LLC", or "RJ Lastname, LLC". ("J" seems to be a popular letter for impressive sounding initials) I used LLC as an example. Do not add LLC unless your corporate structure is a limited liability company.

First, you need to identify clearly who your client is. Put it on paper. You need a professional name to reflect the service you provide. The names you listed, do not seem professional to me.

Prove your legitimacy. Telling people you know what your talking about does not make it true, and they know that.
