Just a note on hostels....
...my daughter and I were trying to save money when we were hiking around in Ireland a couple of years ago. We stayed at hostels and no matter which one we stayed in, I had the hardest time getting a decent night's sleep.

Maybe its because I'm a 'baby boomer' who needs her peace and quiet :D , but the noise level at night was unbelievable! People coming in and out of the rooms, talking, laughing, or packing their stuff for the next day.

Needless to say, by the end of the trip I was exhausted and got sick. I should have spent the extra money to stay in a bed and breakfast for few nights of sound sleep.

Just thought I'd pass along my experiences with hostels.

I am only planning on staying in a hostel for the first week of my trip in the spring until I find an apartment.

I am young and don't mind the racket.
