Direct Marketing as the muse / business reminds me of Charles J. Givens Esquire. Anyone remember him? Late night TV infomercial from 1990 or so. "You, the little guy, can now use the (Greed is Good - Wall Street) tax / insurance / business tricks that the Wall Street types used in the '80s.
The books were reasonable. But Givens, like all direct marketers, was making his money selling his products, not in applying them.
