Hello All,

As you might now from my many previous posts, my main areas of expertise of online biz is infoproducts and dropshipping.

Today I want to give you a heads up on 2 MAJOR policy changes that will affect your infomarketing business and your Adwords campaigns (2 important elements if you are serious about muse AUTOMATION). I have survived to the previous 3 Google slaps, and I already have my strategy fully planned to survive to those changes too. Don't allow eBay or Google to destroy your biz, always have a contingency plan ready.

So, what are those changes?

1) eBay's New Digital Products Delivery Policy

Effective March 31st, you will no longer be able to sell digitally downloaded goods of any type on eBay auctions. You will still be able to sell digitally delivered products through eBay classifieds.

2) Google's New Adwords Policy (Important for those of you who invest heavily in Adwords and split-test ads buying domain names - which is why I own hundreds of domain names myself):

Beginning April 1st, 2008 Google will no longer allow you to post a display URL in your Google ad that is not your own website's real domain name. No more automatic redirects.

PS: dont be angry if those policy put your biz at risk. I see lots of opportunities in those 2 changes, and you might see opportunities too!

I am glad to see the ebay change, because there are many scammers taking advantage of ebay to mislead buyers.

As for the google policy, really isn't that big of a deal. All you have to do is duplicate your site on each domain. Many hosting companies have multiple domain packages that are economical.

You are right Padma, but I buy lots of domain names to test the CTR for my google ads, and from now on I will have to buy a domain and a hosting, cause the redirection wont work anymore.

Thanks anyway for your input to the forum

Guys,

Is this going to screw up affiliate marketing? For example in some of my ads, the display url is www.PRODUCT.com, but the actual url it goes to is a clickbank affiliate link with format www.myaffiliateID.productaffiliateID.hop.clickbank .net

So I am genuinely taking the customer to the site I display, but it's going there via a clickbank link ... will this still work?

I think you guys know what I'm talking about.

If you are talking about google ads, then yes it will.

If you are talking about ads on your site, then you will be fine.

The positive spin of this change, is that it will remove competitors that aren't really dedicated and leave the marketplace open for those willing to really dig in and make a solid effort.

If you are worried about hosting for each of your domains, but a package that hosts more than 1. 1 and 1 hosting (recommended in the book), gives you 2 free domains (w/ hosting) and 3 months free with 3 months purchased. Great deal in my opinion.

Guys

the new google policy will mean that the beloved google cash method (which
consisted in driving traffic straight from adwords into the merchant site, hiding the affiliate iD), will die.

But then again....there are other smarter ways to use adwords for affiliates...

This one makes sense, but they are also saying the display url has to match exactly with the landing url. Problem is, there is a character limit (36?) to what can go in the display url - and my main url is already 30 characters long. So anything I want to put there as a "slash whatever" can only be six characters or less - challenging.

Well spotted Marcie,

yes, you are right. What you can do is to clone your site on a much shorter domain name that you can use for PPC advertising.

For those of you who want to know the EXACT new Google policy, there it is:

That's what I can't figure out. I read the policy and I'll follow that other link. But the paragraph I read was vague. Like for rockdiamond.com, I use the url rockdiamond.com/blahblah (can't remember exactly) so I don't have the blah blah part.

From what I understand of the policy, you could use any url you like to link to the landing page. However the displayed url in the users browser must match whats in the google ad. You could do this easily with a little mod_rewrite sneakiness.

For example, the following would be acceptable:

* Display URL: www.google.com/adwords
* Destination URL: www.trackingurl.com/google123
* Landing page URL: www.google.com

However, this example would be unacceptable:

* Display URL: www.google.com/adwords
* Destination URL: www.trackingurl.com/google123
* Landing page URL: www.trackingurl.com

Could you not just set up for following:

* Display URL: www.mydomain.com/affiliate
* Destination URL: www.mydomain.com/redirect/clickbank
* Landing page URL: www.mydomain.com

Could you not just set up your landing page as a redirect to the affiliate site or is that against the terms and conditions?
(Sorry, I've barely used AdWords before)
