View Full Version : Need Audio Content -- where to look?

I've got a website set to go for my latest muse. I need audio content, in the form of "natural conversation" in English. The topic doesn't really matter. Just 2 to 4 people talking in a cafe or some social setting like that.

In fact, I could even use something like TV news or other programs, talk radio, etc, but I imagine licensing these would be (a) difficult, (b) expensive. Does anyone know where I might get free audio of good quality of this nature, or even license some content in a relatively cheap and easy way (I have no idea how to even start to license media content for my use...if anyone has experience I'd love to hear your thoughts).

To put another way, I'm basically looking for the equivalent of istockphoto or gettyimages, but for audio instead of images (where the audio is clips of human conversation lasting 3 to 20 minutes).

Thanks!

Why not buy a recording device (they aren't very expensive, if you want only decent quality) and record yourself and a friend talking?

SFX, sound effects library

Look those up. You're looking for "people chatting".

Some libraries have SFX libraries, too.

Aren't you the hostile one.

Yeah, I used google, didn't find what I was looking for. Thus, my post. But thanks for the useless response, genius.

WRT: "using mic in coffeeshop & recording conversations":

I actually tried this, but it turns out to be much more work than I thought. I need audio of fairly good quality, and it's hard to get in a cafe with the background noise. I may go this route eventually, but I'd rather get something up quickly, get some revenue, and then focus on creating my own content.

@ Webgirl: Thanks, I'll check out SFX, sounds like it could be what I'm looking for.

Any chance you're on a Mac? Every Mac comes with Garage Band, which has a ton of Royalty Free Audio. (As long as you own a Mac.)

If you have a .mac account you can get additional sounds for free.
