I doubt he is good at everything.
He is just a regular person. Happened to be the first one to write a successful book about his lifestyle, which is something obviously others enjoy as well.

ditto... and i think if anything he stresses that he's just a regular person quite a bit.

I'm very good friends with someone who went to Princeton around the same years as Tim, 1 year below I believe.

My friend attended his speed reading course and also took a Korean language course with him while attending Princeton(as you can imagine, Tim was one of the few non-asians in the class, but not like that's going to stop Tim and his fascination with learning languages). It was funny when I told my friend about this book because he didn't initially know about it, but then you know what he told me?

He wasn't all that surprised that Tim wrote a book. Long story short, my friend said, 'I always knew something was different about that guy. He had some crazy motivation and took the classwork with a strong sense of devotion. Tim had like an extreme sense of motivation about what he did.'

So no, I wouldn't say Tim is the average joe-shmoe. You don't see that kind of motivation with a vast majority of the population, or even a vast majority of the people on this message board! Just look at the number of people posting for ideas and handouts, whereas Tim was probably driven to do the work largely on his own motivation. I think a misconception of Tim's ideals are that a 4 hour work week comes with little effort. His book presents the steps in a quick fashion, but that's not to say many, many hours/days/weeks/years of long work, thinking, planning, and getting advice got him to where he is today. That, plus he DOES have some special qualities about him. That type of long-term, self-motivation is not possessed by the large majority of the population.

That's not to say we can't try to emulate what he has....

Well said. I think one of my biggest takeaways from the book was stepping outside of your comfort zone - Tim is very good at networking which comes along with being willing to do things you would not normally do. I could write a lot more about this, but for now, one example: one of my blog posts related to my first muse ended up with a reporter (from another state) asking to go to my local station and do an on-camera interview about my article. Needless to say, (AAAAAH) But I did it, it was hard, but i had to do it, I wouldn't be a very good 4HWW ambassador otherwise :)

So, as to the question at hand: think big - and go out there and *ask*. A lot of people you would consider "untouchable" are just like you and me at the end of the day and if you get their attention and make them interested in your goals, they will help you.

Other thoughts?

It's funny how some read the book as something really easy to pursue when at first, it takes guts, hard work and vision. So much more.

I also see some taking it as a literal guideline when it's not really going to happen that way. You have to apply it to your life.

I'm so proud of you Marcie. Going on a live radio interview. We're going to have to hear more about that you know. One little paragraph is hardly enough to chew on, my dear. And is said interview on You Tube? If it isn't, perhaps we need to supply you with the needed motivation to get it up there?

Thanks! It was actually a TV interview, I went to the local station to do it and they shipped it off to Tampa. The reporter in Tampa said it was going to air on Good Friday, but it didn't. I am still not sure why as she has not written me back. I don't think Good Friday is a big day for news-viewing, so I am hoping this is a good thing. I just hope they run it sometime soon! And yes, it'll be on youtube just as soon as possible, after all, that will help tremendously with sales, yes? I also need to call the local station back, because they expressed an interest in airing it here. But it's not really news here till it airs there, kwim?
