Read the book today. Definition, Elimination and Liberation are great.
Automation as a Direct Marketing business is tricky however. Sure it can work, but it helps to have some marketing knowledge. Berkeley did a night diploma course in the SF bay but I digress.
Advice on diversifying your business was to a) sell a new product to an existing client or b) sell the same product to a new client. The big no-no was to sell a new product to a new customer, particularly if you have to use new skills that you don't have yet. Not that you can't do it, but it is a) harder and b) less likely to succeed.
Personally, I am interested in Direct Marketing. But should everyone who want to have a four hour work week now become a direct marketer? A tough proposition.
The alternative from a very starchy 1920 was to "live on your capital, young man." You have a certain amount of money. You invest it and live on half the interest. The other half is added to the principal to fight inflation.
