Spanish Translation

I have a book I would like to offer to a larger market, one being spanish speaking people. Has anyone run across an efficient resource for this?

I think it would also be great to have some of the free material on my website available in spanish and I believe there must be some app out there that does this but I wonder about the grammar and reliablility of it.

Thoughts/opinions?

Someone on eLance and translate your book for you. I've used them for tax returns, research papers, coding. Just give very clear instructions, milestones and success factors, like any good project manager, browse the providors and select the best combinatin of experience and price.

I have done sports translations in the past (sports medicine) and Spanish is my first language. I am out of work now and working on something like everybody else here!!!!

I'm a native Spanish speaker from Costa Rica and I can tell you for sure use a human translator. The automated/software type service are junk if you plan to sell the translated work.

Having endured/survived the translation of a bestselling book (not mine) into Spanish, definitely use a real person to do the work and make sure their work is high quality. Also, make sure the variety of Spanish is correct for the group you're targeting.

We had the book translated into Spanish by one translation service (several hundred dollars, if I recall correctly) only to find out later that the variety of Spanish they translated into wasn't appropriate for our target audience (Mexicans). It's like having someone translate a book into the British version of English when you're going to sell it in the US.

Needless to say, a couple of years and many complaints later, we had to pay to do it all over again.

That's a very good point if your target in U.S. based Spanish speakers and Latin America make sure the translation is done using Latin American Spanish not Spaniard Spanish.
