I have purchased a domain for a particular recipe that I know will turn out to be a great low maintenance muse. What is the best way to build a recipe website? Use a blog software? Make a new page for each recipe individually?
Blog software (eg. Wordpress) is probably a good low effort way to startup. You can list specific posts/pages in an index, recipes are extremely searchable, and you can easily categorize/tag recipes.
Another more structured option would be to use content management software like Joomla (http://www.joomla.com), but if I were you I'd go with the blog software. The learning curve is relatively light in my opinion.
Wordpress get's good reviews here.
I needed multiple blogs for my website and was pointed to drupal.
I was able to have my first site up and running in about 3 hours, including learning to use ftp software (cyberduck), the drupal system for administering and gimp for making my logo.
Since then I made another two sites in just over one hour each.
Here they are:
www.shorthandedsailing.com
www.puresven.com
www.zeilendesingles.nl (Dutch)

Thanks for the advice! I signed up with a web host and implemented Wordpress this evening. Once I have some content and a little more polish, I'll post the URL :)
