I just wanted to be the first person to post on this forum. I read an advance copy of Tim's book and it blew me away.

Tim showed me how to combine two things I have learned:

1. You can do anything if you're not afraid to travel
2. If you know marketing (especially internet marketing) everything is possible.

I look forward to doing more on the forum here. But I also want to start getting some ideas on outsourcing. I'm still a do-it-all-by-myself guy.

But I'm planning on going abroad i a month and a half, and have to get some things automated.

How's that for Parkinson's Law?

This book was great! I got the Audible audiobook.

I run a web hosting, colocation and website development business and now we are trying to contemplate ways to automate and cut the fat. We are always very busy and even spending weekends working.

I must say, he has opened my mind to not being a workaholic. I have managed to keep the reigns on my imagination for the last seven years and it was actually painfully hard to imagine what I would do with time and money!

Originally when I started my business I had visions of freedom. Thanks to this book, I have managed to actually start rekindling those initial feelings again!

Yes I fall int he workaholic category too.. trying to get myself off that. I think it will take me a bit of workaholism tho' to get the "muses" set up.

Currently I work full time in a low level job. I used to do the corporate manangement thing but I didn't like the long hours. In my spare time I blog and the income from that makes up the shortfall from taking a low level job.

I already work out of the office one day a week.. don't think I can get more tho, so will have to make do until I quit.

I'm in the process of automating the blogging so that I can have more free time, but still have the income coming in.

So how do you make money blogging? I thought blogs were essentially just online diaries or editorials like the Drudge Report.

The best resource i've found so far on the blogging for money issue is http://problogger.net. I have a couple of blogs I'm interested in making money with too.

From what I can tell, the first thing is you really need good content. If you're not much of a writer, it may not be for you. The other thing is that it's labor intensive. You can probably outsource, meaning you can get other writers to write posts for you, but somebody will need to spend time on quality control if you really want to make money.

The next issue is that it takes time - it doesn't seem to happen over night.

I highly recommend problogger.net though, it's the most comprehensive site on this topic.

Good luck!

I like problogger but I also like Daily Blog Tips (http://www.dailyblogtips.com/). A lot of useful stuff there (a bit more on the mechanics etc. but it does not hurt).

Like last mechanic said, so people make money (good money) by just blogging and selling ads, product etc. on the blog. But another thing that they do (as the book suggests) is help you gain "expert status". Once you have that expert status, the doors are open.

are more like online "Magazines".

I buy content and sell advertising, and keep the money in between.

I netted nearly $1000 in April. Expect to break that barrier in May. If I can automate it, the sky is the limit for my blogging income. On projections, I expect to have a full time income by August, and be able to throw in the JOB.

I have 21 blogs with PRs.. working on more, but I can probably outsource alot of that building. :D

I want to move sideways into eBooks to start with and then videos. Also increase the quality of my blogs so that are something that I would be proud of - at the moment they are pretty trashy looking, although they are obviously working. ;)

I am recently unemployed and this book is giving me ideas to avoid going back to the grind. I have a couple months before I have to work, and will be trying to avoid the office if I can.

Would love to see some of them - sounds like you've really got a great thing going there!

Thanks for the dailyblogtips.com link - I'll check that out. I have two blogs and neither are making money yet. That's because I haven't actually been focused on monetizing them as much as trying to focus on good content and I create all content - very time consuming! I like cornflower's idea better...:)

They ain't pretty... LOL

I tend to buy one domain name and then hang blogs off it on subdomains.. my newest is www.extrahealthy.info. The main site is basically just an announcement blog or "hub" for the others.

It's been alot of work. Outsourcing will be just grand.. :)

Cornflower: I checked out your web site and I didn't see any advertising or links to stores. So I'm confused as to how you're making money. Perhaps you've included the ads too well? Please point me in the right direction. :)

mdfloyd.. these are relatively new sites and so I have not started to monetise them heavily.. yet. The "hub" site. www.extrahealthy.info will never be monetised.

The ways I monetize the sites:

* Paid sponsored posts
* Adsense
* Selling links
* Banners for affiliate sales
* Reviews of products -> clickbank
* Other bits and pieces.
