The Random Show – New Favorite Books, Memory Training, and Bets On VR (#171)

The Random Show

This is not going to be a long-form interview where I dissect and deconstruct a world-class performer…at least not in the usual fashion. Instead, this is a special edition of The Random Show.

I am joined by Kevin Rose (@KevinRose), serial entrepreneur, world-class investor, and all around wild and crazy guy. We discuss a wide range of topics, including new favorite books, memory training, meditation tactics, multiple wives, and bets for or against virtual reality.

If you only have 5 minutes, here’s an untold story about a body experiment I wish I didn’t do.

Enjoy!

#146: The Random Show, Ice Cold Edition

This podcast is brought to you by Wealthfront. Wealthfront is a massively disruptive (in a good way) set-it-and-forget-it investing service led by technologists from places like Apple. It has exploded in popularity in the last two years and now has more than $2.5B under management. Why? Because you can get services previously limited to the ultra-wealthy and only pay pennies on the dollar for them, and it’s all through smarter software instead of retail locations and bloated sales teams.

Check out wealthfront.com/tim, take their risk assessment quiz, which only takes 2-5 minutes, and they’ll show you — for free — exactly the portfolio they’d put you in. If you want to just take their advice and do it yourself, you can. Well worth a few minutes to explore: wealthfront.com/tim.

This podcast is also brought to you by 99Designs, the world’s largest marketplace of graphic designers. I have used them for years to create some amazing designs. When your business needs a logo, website design, business card, or anything you can imagine, check out 99Designs.

I used them to rapid prototype the cover for The 4-Hour Body, and I’ve also had them help with display advertising and illustrations. If you want a more personalized approach, I recommend their 1-on-1 service. You get original designs from designers around the world. The best part? You provide your feedback, and then you end up with a product that you’re happy with or your money back. Click this link and get a free $99 upgrade. Give it a test run.

No such thing as Japanese whisky, if it’s not made in Scotland it’s spelled whiskEy. As per one of your previous podcasts with sommelier Richard Bettes (#110).

Another great episode. I am amazed at how gracefully you got out of the ‘what are you looking for in a woman?’ question. Your answer was vague and precise, general and personal at the same time. Well done. lol

Have you ever considered dating a very yin, soft, nurturing woman that was emotionally stable and a strong, driven badass? Do such women exist? The yin energy is often associated with mushy and unbalanced but that’s because a lot of women are simply unbalanced. An unbalanced yin woman won’t balance your fire, she will smother it. A balanced yin woman kicks ass, she is strong, powerful, inspiring and she has incredible intuition. A female wolf is nurturing, soft, feminine but attack one of her loved ones and she will kill you. Yin is misunderstood, both by females and by males.

Here is my take on a relationship.

A relationship happens between 4 people, not 2. You have a boy that needs to be nurtured by a strong badass woman so he can play, explore, break his neck and have fun until he has played enough. He then grows up and takes care of his sexy lady so she can forget about being strong, become like a girl again, dance, laugh, swirl, draw, paint, sing, wear tutus. When the little girl has played enough she grows up, she puts on war paint, she becomes strong and badass and she takes care of her man so he can go out and play.

Thank you and Kevin for this sweet show.

Hey Tim and Tim’s friends,

I’m a 23 yr old kiwi that kicked cancers ass last year! I’m a huge fan.

As a psilocybin advocate (medically and occasionally socially) I was ecstatic to hear your work you are doing with the two mentioned topics.

I went straight onto your website and tried to buy a tee only to find the campaign had ended. How do I get a shirt so I can spread awareness? I am inspired by this work. It will now be my goal to help get terminal cancer patients in NZ this treatment. I know if my situation went down that road, frustration would be an understantement if I couldn’t get this treatment legally.

Please help me help the world!

Happy life,

Ollie.
