The 4-Hour Body is NOW OUT – Live Q&A Today, New Trailer, Free Books, and Much More

Trailer concepted and produced by the amazing Epipheo Studios for Traileo.tv

PLEASE NOTE: THE PROMOTION AND THE CONTEST ARE BOTH OVER. THANKS!

Today is the day.

After three years of work, The 4-Hour Body is available everywhere!

I work very hard on my books. My first and previous book, The 4-Hour Workweek, has an 5-star average on Amazon with more than 1,000 reviews, and it has been a Top-10 Amazon Customer Favorite:

Compared to that book, I spent 3 TIMES longer on the new book — The 4-Hour Body — to ensure it worked with men and women, with young and old.

It is the definitive choose-your-own-adventure guide to the human body, ranging from fat-loss and muscular gain to sex and sleep. Everything is tested and it all works.

I have now negotiated the price down to a mere $14.50.

Why? Because I’m proud of this book and want it to be #1 on The New York Times bestseller list. That said, I have a very tough opponent. The Guinness Book of World Records is #1 for this week every year. Last I looked, Guinness was barely ahead of me:

With your help, I can beat them.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROMOTION AND THE CONTEST ARE BOTH OVER. THANKS!

In this post, and until 12 midnight Friday (Dec. 17), I will:

- Offer complementary “thank you” gifts to anyone who has, or will, buy a copy of The 4-Hour Body.
– Offer $260 of kick-ass goods to anyone who buys 3 copies (costs less than $45).
– Offer a free $16,000 trip to the person who promotes The 4-Hour Body best this week.

In addition to getting new readers, I also want to reward people who pre-ordered long ago, and help readers who missed past prizes due to tech glitches. So, here we go, one at a time…

One Book

If you buy, or have bought, The 4-Hour Body in any format:

Until Friday at midnight PST, you can get a FREE digital PDF copy of The 4-Hour Workweek (usually $20) and a free copy of “The Slow-Carb Diet: Volume 1″ (not available anywhere else), both hosted by E-Junkie.

STEP ONE:
If you haven’t already, buy The 4-Hour Body for about $14.50 on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or through any other retailer. If you buy it in a book store, keep the receipt. Only hardcover counts for the bestseller lists, so it’s easily the most helpful for me (please!), but you can buy any format: Audiobook (abridged), Kindle, Nook, etc..

STEP TWO – LAST STEP:
Fill out this short form. You’ll get the PDFs within 72 hours.

Three Books (US shipping addresses for the books, please)

If you want to buy 3 copies, you can get $260 of bonuses for less than $45 of books:

- 1 bottle of Super Cissus RX ($45), one of my staple supplements.
– 3-month Daily Burn Pro membership ($30)
– 1-year of ‘Performance Menu Journal’ Magazine ($30)
– 3 months Evernote Premium (first 500 only!) ($15)
“Find Your First Profitable Idea” with Ramit Sethi ($100 for full course)
– Digital copy of “The 4-Hour Workweek” ($20)
– The Slow-Carb Cookbook ($20)

STEP ONE:
Buy three copies on Amazon or elsewhere.

STEP TWO – LAST STEP:
Fill out this short form. Done.

Promote your heart out, live like a rockstar

If you want to go for the gold, get amped and promote The 4-Hour Body this week (deadline is 12 midnight PST, Friday) and tell me what you did in the comments. Measure your impact (clicks, sales, etc.) whenever possible.

If you are the best promoter, judged by me and a panel of friends, you get to pick one trip of a lifetime… for free. I will almost definitely be in attendance:

8-Day Argentina Snow Adventure in Patagonia
10-Day Private Tour of India, including Miss India

How to promote? That’s up to you. E-mail your friends, share links (like www.fourhourbody.com) on Facebook, join relevant LinkedIn groups, give a copy to a popular radio station as a giveaway… it’s entirely up to you!

Here are the descriptions:

8-Day Argentina Snow Adventure in Patagonia

Eight-day guided ski-snowboard adventure in mystical Patagonia, Argentina. Your guides introduce you to the best skiing, local culture, outstanding meals and red wines. Visit charming villages, situated on glacier cut lakes and national parks.

Also includes roundtrip economy airfare from and back to the U.S. I’m almost 100% that I’ll be there, as I LOVE Argentina, especially Patagonia. Provided by Powderquest — check ‘em out. Yoga in between runs, if you like? Malbec or hot chocolate? Yes, please.

Date: TBD based on your availability.

10-Day Private Tour of India, including Miss India

10-day “SamaSundarbans” trip to West Bengal with Tim Ferriss and his friends, where you will meet some of Samasource’s Service Partners and experience the beauty of India. After two days visiting Samasource’s Service Partners in Kolkata, enjoy a five-day tour across the Sundarbans.

Bengali for “beautiful forests,” the Sundarbans are an “alluvial archipelago” of 102 islands settled between the Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers and accessible only by boat. Take a river cruise and observe the region’s diverse wildlife including saltwater crocodiles, bullsharks, and the Royal Bengal Tiger. After enjoying your eco-friendly expedition and luxury lodging in the Sundarbans, journey back to Kolkata and let our field associates and former Miss India Sandhya Chib give you an authentic taste of India! Long known as the cultural capital of India, Kolkata is the main business, commercial, and financial hub of eastern India and burgeoning urban metropolis. After exploring the city’s historical and popular landmarks, enjoy a special South Asian dinner in your honor, hosted by Miss India and special guests.

Includes: Economy airfare to and from India. Accommodations and internal transportation for entire trip in West Bengal, meals during Sundarbans tour, dinner with Miss India, Tim Ferriss, and special guests.

Date: TBD based on your availability.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROMOTION AND THE CONTEST ARE BOTH OVER. THANKS!

    • Where are the Bonus Materials?

I bought the book and read it. Its GREAT and worth much more than its price. Dont think about it and just buy it! I began implementing some of the weight loss suggestions even before finishing the book. Tim really breaks it down to make it easy.

However, the book list numerous Bonus Material (Removing Stubborn Thigh Fat, etc.) available on the website using passwords hidden in the book (like he did with the 4HWW), but I cant find them anywhere on the web.

      HELP PLEASE !!

  1. Hi Tim,
Good luck with the launch, I’ve read the sample chapter and loved it!

I’m trying to order the Kindle version as I’m in the UK, and want to start reading it now but It says its not available yet!?

    Could you look into this?

    Thanks!

  3. Heya Tim,

I am really looking forward to reading your book, I was one of the first to pre-order your book through amazon months ago (within a minute after your request) but now I feel a bit sad…

Not only has the price come down since then (I am paying 24 dollars + shipping according to Amazon) but also the delivery time has been growing out of proportion. Normally I am very content with their standard shipping, but now I am informed that I will get your book somewhere in the last half of January 2011. Is there some difference in the Amazon batch between the pre-ordered ones and the normally ordered ones? Frankly, running to my local bookstore to get it seems like a far better deal than pre-ordering….

I know this is not your fault and you cannot help this but I felt the need to post it somewhere…. I just want to read your book and start my new fitness regime next year :D

    Best regards,
    Tim

And even the try, getting the ebook included in the special gift package didn’t quite work out, I haven’t got it yet, but I so wanna read it right know.

I loved the 4hww and I think 4 hour body will be usable in a much bigger variety of areas in life!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Tim.

  5. Tim, congratulations with having your book out today!

Can’t wait to read it so i just bought the Kindle version while waiting on the hardcover from hopshopgo! :)

I’m very curious if the big bonus packages (1.000 up to 10.000 books) are sold! Should be nice for your ‘becoming number 1′ goal!

(I see you removed the ‘“Find Your First Profitable Idea” with Ramit Sethi’ course from the list of bonuses when you buy one book, is this still available for the land rush people? Just asking because the form is identical to the land rush one ;))

  8. Hello Tim,

Just a promotion idea for you: Steve Pavlina sent an electronic copy of his book “personal development for smart people” for every blogger who write a review about his book and give a link to his web site.

(And he put these bloggers’ review links in his web site)

This way you’ll guarantee a lot of links and increase your pagerank naturally.

If you send me a free electronic copy of your book, I’ll write a review in my blog and send you the link. (I’m a Turkish blogger, so you can also get a Turkish review by this way)

  12. Hey Tim,

I was really amazed when I read about your promotions. As luck would have it, I just started a blog about my Four Hour Body Experience. It is really new but I will be populating it with as much content as humanly possible this week. I imagine that once the book is in my hands, finding interesting content to talk about will be no problem.

I really think it will be a good promoter for the book as well as a personal tool to keep me on track as I attempt to transform my health and fitness.

  13. Quick question…

I ordered 5 books through the promotion this weekend on Eventbrite. I am a little concerned about that process. I haven’t seen any information other than the “Eventbrite Ticket”.

When do we expect those to ship?

I’m considering buying 3 more today for presents for other people, but I want to make certain all my previous orders are in the queue.

After today I will have ordered a total of 9 books…

I am DYING to read this book…probably going to store to buy today, wish my pre-ordered copies were here!

I’ve worked out that if you temporarily transfer your account to the amazon.com, you can get the book and then transfer back to .co.uk – just ‘manage your kindle’ and change your address.
      Good luck!

I’m in my late 40s and will consider this a great experiment. The way it is now, if I just *look* at dessert I gain weight (so it seems, anyway).

My 2nd copy is going to my 76 year old mom. She’s always up for trying new things too.

Hopefully the USPS doesn’t muck up the delivery too much.

Yesterday I saw that a coworker of mine had just purchased a copy of The 4 HWW and was reading it.

“What are you reading?” I asked.

He responded rather timidly, “Have you heard of Tim Ferriss?”

    I couldn’t help but smile. :)

We talked for awhile about The 4HWW and then I added “You know he has a new book coming out tomorrow called The 4-Hour Body”? “You BETTER get reading my friend!”

I was SO excited to see my pre-ordered copies had shipped yesterday.
I’ve been looking forward to this day for a LONG time. It feels like it’s Christmas already! I’m SO looking forward to putting your methods to the test, especially as they relate to building muscle and fat loss. I’m looking forward to sharing the results with the world!

Starting reading the book today on my Kindle & so far it’s fascinating (as a phsycian & a fan of informatics/outliers).

Minor comment in ref to Location 748 (kindle ref) where you say: “That is, if you’re a critical intervention patient, such as a morbidly obese type 1 diabetic”. Most type 1 diabetics are not morbidly obese & in fact are thin and young at onset of the disease. As I’m sure you know, type 1 DM is autoimmune & not associated w/obesity, as is type 2 DM. So, your example seems more plausibly to refer to someone with type 2 DM?

  30. Where do we post questions/errata regarding 4HB? e.g. the chart on pg 180 does not include a listing for myotatic crunch, thus there is no comparison between it and the other crunch types. Or is the EMG for myotatic crunch listed elsewhere?

    • Hi James,

Thanks for the comment. I’ll be putting up a form for errata, for sure, but the myotatic crunch isn’t included yet because — to my knowledge — no one has done testing with an EMG on the movement!

Being that it can still be measured and tested, how do you feel about exploring that? Kettle bells first entered my work outs when I discovered crossfit, how do you feel about their philosophy? Just curious. By the way, your writing is lively and entertaining as well as informative, my personal criteria for non-fiction. Thanks!!!!!

I’m also a little confused about the weight training part. Any chance you could break it down for me? What is most effective for me and anyone else that’s looking for a similar build. I’ll continue to read of course but I just couldn’t wait to get to the sections I felt applied most to me.

Also, I sent you pic of receipt and a little worried the pic was too small lol=P

  49. So I go on Amazon.com and find 96 reviews: 94 five star reviews 1 four star review and 1 one star review. I refresh the page and the 1 star review disappeared. WTF is this? Are you censoring your book’s reviews?

    Like

    • Hey Jake,

      Thanks for the comment!

Nope, I’m not censoring my reviews. I have no power to do so. Here’s what I suspect happened is the following, as I saw it with my last release. If a review was “This is fake! How could 50 reviews come out on the first day!” with a 1-star review (Answer: review and advanced copies), if enough people flag it as “inappropriate”, it gets reviewed. This “This is fake! These comments are fake!” is not a review of the book, the review then gets removed.

I’m running around and am barely online this week due to media, etc. I don’t have the power (nor inclination) to delete 1-star reviews. There are a few more up now anyway :)

      All the best,

      • There are trolls on Amazon.com and launching the blog collecting deleted negative reviews. Good thing there is a reply button where it give me an opportunity to defend the 4HB integrity.

Those accusations they made are based on baseless facts. When my books arrive from BN and I will make sure to give a honest review which I hope to balance out.

I ordered my 3 books (gave out two and read from mine to countless ears)and i am a big vlogger since last year when i went on HCG–I’m no superstar but some of my videos have like 6000 hits so I totally made a video today (mostly to the HCG diet community-which is quite large) just letting them know there is something new that also targets fat loss quickly and lets us chow down frequently!
i wanna go to india. ;)
I started diet yesterday. beans scared me because I have been conditioned to think they are “too carby” and would make me hungry-but i always loved beans -so thanks for bringing them back into my life. i expect outrageous results-very excited.

  50. I was skeptical at first thinking this was yet another fitness book to dupe people to buying for the holidays. However, the stuff on kettlebells is true. I have been teaching kettlebells as a personal trainer and have used them myself to get results. Of course, it is important to have an instructor who is knowledgeable. While, as the book says, the swing gets you places, there is so much more to kettlebells that can get your way more results.

Women love kettlebell training because it does make them stronger, faster. The instantaneous loading of the upper body at the top of the swing forces the body to do something it would not normally do – lift a heavier weight than it thinks it can.

I have yet to read the rest of the book and verify.

  52. CONTEST

    Hi, Tim.

The “Land Rush” promotion did seem to be a bit… rushed. I know you are a big fan of time constraints. But this time I think the promotion ended a bit too soon, before the buying momentum could properly peak. Because the last promotion was so strict on the deadline, I don’t know if we can get the momentum going again in 48 Hours. Because most people thought the last deadline was the true deadline, I’m getting negative responses from people who kind of feel cheated for participating in the last promo. They bought the books thinking there was going to be only one promotion, and now that there is a second(almost identical) promotion they are getting buyers remorse big time! some are talking refunds. The high excitement that drove people to the Land Rush is in small part turning against the book.
It might be a good idea to extend it to Sunday.
It also depends on how much momentum you can build from your party tonight! Pump up the volume! (I know that was a bit… lame)

I’m doing a twitter and stumble upon campaign. Hopefully that will be enough to put you over the hump. Got a few hundred clicks last time. I’ll let you know how it goes this time in a later comment.

    Good Luck.

Have fun at the Party tonight, everybody!

Could you be a little more specific? There are no messageboards there that I can see.

I like your last two chapters on spotting bad science.

By the way, your assertion w/r to Splenda’s effect on gut bacteria is incomplete. No, I don’t work for the makers of Splenda – I’m a programmer trying to get thinner/fit. I’ve been researching your various assertions in the book to decide what to adapt for my journey to fitness.

      • Hi Russell,

I had some of my researchers look into this. Here’s the response:

        ###

Just dug into this a little bit more. Here’s Seth Roberts’ take on it (http://www.blog.sethroberts.net/2009/11/22/splenda-reduces-gut-bacteria-in-rats/):

“More The makers of Splenda issued a press release that could not be less convincing. The study, it says, has “major deficiencies” that include “a lack of appropriate control groups necessary for understanding results.” No statement of what those control groups are. The press release also claims that because the investigators did not measure food and water intake, the results are meaningless! The idiotic press release is made even more curious by the statement quoted in the comments below, that “Drs. Abou-Donia and Schiffman admitted that some of the results recorded in their report submitted to the court were not actually observed or were based on experiments that had not been conducted.” But these, too, are not described. Which means to me that the details are not on Splenda’s side, or they would have been presented. It sounds like really bad news for Splenda.”

While the press release is no longer available online, the quotes seem almost identical to the ones listed in the articles submitted by your commenter.

Also, I wend directly to the panel’s published findings at PubMed (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19567260):

“The Expert Panel found that the study was deficient in several critical areas and that its results cannot be interpreted as evidence that either Splenda, or sucralose, produced adverse effects in male rats, including effects on gastrointestinal microflora, body weight, CYP450 and P-gp activity, and nutrient and drug absorption.”

But again, it doesn’t say what the “critical areas” are that are deficient, and it’s published under the ominous-sounding affiliation of “Independent Consultant.”

**Bottom line – your text stands, leave it as is.**

        ###

        Hope that helps!

  55. Tim, the Kindle edition isn’t available in Australia. Is that your choice or Amazon’s, or someone else? Is there any way that can be fixed?!

    Like

    • Second this – I would like to support your book but the Kindle version is not available in Australia yet. I’m sure it’ll all be resolved soon, but its a little annoying that (paid for) digital content is delayed and can’t be made available simultaneously and globally in this day and age.

      • I was able to get the kindle version in Australia through my American amazon account. Any chance you could get to amazon US and make a US account? Just an idea, not sure if it’s possible for someone in Oz. I had my US account before I arrived in Oz. Good luck

      • I ordered my book straight from the US store, but I had to wait for Pacific time in the US in order to do it (I’m in Japan at the moment). Have you tried ordering/can you order from the US store?

        Like

      • There sure is. You just change your Kindle’s address to a fake European or American address, if you’re doing it through the device. Or buy it on your Amazon account on the website.

      • You can buy kindle versions from amazon.com even if you’re outside of US (at least it works for me and I’m in Canada)

Here’s my kindle workaround…ordered the kindle book from Australia 2 hours ago without a problem

        1. Grab a copy of hotspot shield (free) – its an anonymous proxy/browsing tool that once connected Amazon will no longer detect you’re not in the US

        http://hotspotshield.com/

        2. Search “tim ferriss kindle” in google and the amazon 4hb book link should be in position 2-3, click on to open up (kindle book wont show in amazon search results outside US)

        3. If you have a non-US amazon account it will still say in the right hand sidebar “title not available in blablabla”. About an inch underneath that it has a link that says something like “moved country recently” or similar, click that
(*this link didnt show until I had hotspotshield activated)

        4. You’ll then be given the option to change the address your Kindle is associated with. I used a real US based address I grabbed off a website online

        5. Once I changed my kindle address, I was able to purchase the book using one-click-checkout and it downloaded to Kindle on ipad without an issue.

***This doesn’t seem to affect regular purchases as put an order through after that to test and went through fine to my regular Sydney shipping address.

      • Hey Tim,

I am in Australia and have a work around for buying the kindle edition through Amazon that is SUPER easy.

        1. Download Hotspot Shield for free and install

        2. Delete all cookies on your computer and restart your browser

        3. Turn on Hotspot shield (this will make amazon think your computer is in the USA by giving you a US IP address)

        4. Log into Amazon and change your address to a US address (a fake one is fine)

        5. Buy the book (kindle edition) …. SIMPLE

Took me 5 minutes and I am now half way through after 2 days and frantically trying to figure out to reverse my shoulder, sternum and color bone aches.

Going to try ART in Sydney!

        Amazing book.

        Many thanks,

        Nick Broadhurst

Do I need to resubmit, reapply or am I just being impatient?

  57. hello tim & community, hopefully this is the best/most ethical way to contact you as per your contact page. i am a 31 yr old male living in the bay area, very ill with unspecified auto-immune-like conditions. i eat paleo, and take way too many supplements at the behest of my doctor. i read & study obsessively, but due to my health issues i cannot say that i am successful in any exciting way. i hope that your book will give me some ideas about what i can do to heal, but at this point, years of struggling against an invisible force, i am prone to pessimism.
Tim, in your book-buying-prize contest you mentioned a full body testing that isn’t available to the public. is there any way i can attain this testing? i am willing to be a transparent case study, and its probably obvious that i am not wealthy enough to afford this on my own. one of the side effects of my condition is lack of humor and creativity as my brain isn’t operating 100% yet, so i haven’t been able to come up with a way to monetize/fund my healing.
thank you for doing what you do (even though i am very jealous & angry)

    • Why not go read The Paleo Solution and/or post a question for Robb Wolf’s podcast? I think most if not all auto-immune diseases can be cured by doing a 30-day strict Paleo diet (Paleo + no eggs, no nuts, no nightshades).
There are a ton of similar questions already answered in the podcast archives over there.
